Quad-Core Price Drops?

Hey Guys,

I have been waiting such a long time for the New 45nm Quad-Cores to come out but they are not out yet. Then I did some reasearch and it looks like they will not do as well as expected.

My question is, when are there going to be price drops on the Q6600 or the Q6700? And if there are news about this then which one is worth it? I will be overclocking one or the other and want to know if I will overclock if the Q6600 will be good enough. Is there any difference between the Q6600 and the Q6700 regardless the core speed?

The Core 2 Quad Q6600 and Q6700 will see their prices drop from US$266 and US$530 to US$224 and US$266, respectively, on April 20 this year.

I am still waiting for a quad core celeron with 1 or 2mb of cache for under $130. That would make a killing in sales in my opinion.

I don't think it is worth it to wait till April 20th for just a 20-30 dollar price drop. I have a $27 leftover giftcard for newegg anyways. What do you guys think?

Well if you don't necessary need a quadcore right away, every little bit of savings helps.

I am still waiting for a quad core celeron with 1 or 2mb of cache for under $130. That would make a killing in sales in my opinion.
Even though that most likely will never happen I as well would like a cheapman's quadcore.

Well they made a dual core one so I am guessing they may make one when 8 cores start appearing.

Why rush it? Hold off until April and then grab a Q6600 and ride it out until the Nehalem chips come out.

I have been using parts from my dads computer that he got for christmas since christmas, and I feel bad that he was not able to use it. That's the reason why I want to get the quad-core now. First of all the plan was that I will give it to him mid February, but the new quad-cores did not come out. So yeah, I feel bad for him.

Perfect, Bday is on the 24th so the prices will be effectively dropped by then :)
