Hello i have 2 gigs buffalo select ddr2 6400 800mhz came with pc, and ive purchased 2 gigs corsair same specs but my buffalo is 1.8 volts and corsair 1.9
didnt think to check buffalo volts at time of corsair purchase thats my bad. Any way put corsair in and after minute Crash and couldnt even enter bios or setup upon restart. Took corsair out and all good. So does the ram have to both be 1.9 volts or do i just have bad ram. In bios for Asus P5N-E sli 650i mobo after the auto assign voltage the lowest it will let me select is 1.9? even though my buffalo specs 1.8 is there someway to check my corsair? Sry for the long post on probably a simple answer

PS. is there somewhere i can donate ive already had help with a few questions and id like to put a penny in the pot

go into your bios and up the voltage first. Most DDR2 should be able to run at 2.1V without any issue so you can run them at 1.9v. Or maybe go even a bit higher to 2.0V.

Also know, with 4 sticks of RAM your PC might do some weird stuff; 2x 2G is best.

Victor has the right idea, upping the memory voltage to 1.9v in your BIOS may do the trick. Just double check to be sure the RAM isn't getting overly warm... with four modules side-by-side they tend to need very good airflow over them.

Ok found out one of the sticks was the opposite of good...... haha so i did RMA
set my volts to 1.9 and got an artic cooling fan to blow over the sticks smooth sailing from here on out.

THANKYOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!
