Welcome to the Darkside.
For the first time in a lot of years I ordered an Intel CPU today.
I got the Intel Q6600 and a P5K-E Asus board for it. Coulda been a better board I guess but it fit's me needs and there was (as always) a budget.
If you don't see me any more it'll be because I burst into flames on touching Intel equipment. :ahhhhh:

I was giving AMD a last chance, but they didn't make the grade with Phenom so it's Intels turn on the desk.
On a side note, I went through a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth trying to find a mobo that'd fit the budget. If i'd have waited an hour I coulda had any board I wanted. With in an hour of posting I sold 2 computers and ended up with a wad of cash.

Well I sold 2 computers within an hour, have 2 more nice to sell, 4 internet boxes behind that, the Q6600 to build next week so I'm not sure what I'm doing with the 6400.
Probably keep it until I'm sure the q6600 is going to do justice, if it's not doing justice then back to the 6400. More likely I'll build the 6400/M3A into a nice Ultra case I have and sell it for a nice profit like I do most machines.
Every thing I have on my desk is paid for by buying selling and trading, I have maybe a hundred out of pocket invested in the monster X2 6400 and the Q6600 setups. Not just the boards both machines complete with two complete water cooling setups.
So more than likely the 6400 will end up grindage in the mill like all the other machines I've built. Then the Q6600 will be sold when i move to Nehalm. It's just the way I do it. Buyem play withem and sellem out.
If only women were that easy.

If I had it to do over, I'd go with a 5000BE and clock the dog doo out of it, for under a hundred you can drive it like you own it!

Yea sorry if I sell a CPU it breaks the cycle and I have to replace it with a new cpu that probably costs me more. You'll be better off with a new cpu, 3 year replacement policy that way. If it goes bad locally they bring it back to me and pay for shipping and I send it back to AMD for them under my receipt.
Or join up on the DarkSide, after seeing a couple of InHells running I'm pretty sure you can (at a higher cost) squeeze more out of them.

Nope, never going Intel. AMD has to be putting out processors as slow as AthlonXPs for me to switch over or just go bankrupt. Ill just get me a 6400BE retail its cool.

Too many good people being turned to the Darkside! Keep the faith PP - AMD has got to come back! I just built a second 5000+BE box to replace Opty, who passed away recently. I'll keep building with AMD and attempt to resist the lure of the Dark Side of the Force!

That's partially why I'm holding the 6400, I've been AMD so long that I'm not sure I'm going to like Intel on my desk.
In any case it's been to long since I had my hands in an Intel and I need to stay current with the evolving technology as I fix and sell computers for a living. The 65nm Intels have been around long enough now that some are showing signs of aging and in need of repair.
Time for me to bone up on them so I'm ready for that segment of the market. That and I want to see if they drive as well as people say.

Even if my next build, when I'm going to make it will contain an Intel CPU,I really hope that AMD will recover, because without them,Intel will keep the prices up,and never go down.

Intels prices are why 3 or 4 months ago I built the 6400, maybe if I put the AMD on one side of the desk, and the Intel on the other with a KVM switch in the middle the two forces would balance and my Che would find it's center.
Who am I kidding I'd just like to have two monster rigs on the same desk.

Intel might be doing better over all but I still think each has it's own individual merits.
As far as day to day use I'll see in about a week.
