When I first read that headline I was hoping for something that could withstand a missile hit or a bullet or something kewl like that but...it is actually

The drive is said to meet U.S. military drop-test standards, namely the MIL-STD-810F Transit Drop.

Not as cool...:lol: but still, that would be handy if you're on the road a lot and need to carry an external drive with you...

Paint it olive drab and call it the Halo 3 edition and it will sell like hotcakes. LOL

You never know... I saw a picture of a ToughBook that saved a guy from getting shot in the leg, totally contained the bullet, he was happy!

Not many are familiar with the actual definition of the Mil-Spec though, most just think it means its invincible. I think, and its been a long time so I could be wrong, that it's a drop from 3 feet.

4 foot drop raw (not in a Pc) onto its corner, 4 days in a frequency box/tray. Dad also said there is a lot of sub-standards so there might be different rules for PC components.
