i figured i would setup my computer just one more time before i lost all hope in it running until i get a new mobo and cpu for it....so earlier today i took everything out of my case and layed it out in a box and tonight i felt like setting it up (out of the case) and see if it runs....so im currently in the process of hooking the thing up and im hoping that i can at least view the bios so i know it will work once i get my hdd back from a friend....well my question is: is there anything i should try before i unhook everything and put it away for good until i get new parts?

well with everything hoked up and ready to go i turned it on and nothing happened......no video....i tried using my 7600GT and then the onboard video and nothing.....lights lit up and fans spun there was no bios beep and looked to have no errors. so looks like im going to have to get a new motherboard and possibly processor but i dont know yet.

Usually you start by using one stick of ram, the video card, and nothing else. This minimizes the equipment that can go wrong.

Then you can take the CMOS battery out, unplug the Power supply and let it set over night. Some times that helps.

It does sound like a bad board though. It's usually easier to start with a new Mobo and see if that cures it. If your quick when the Mobo comes in you can test the CPU and if it turns out to be the CPU you can send the Mobo back (to NewEgg) within 7 days and exchange it for the CPU you need. You might be out a restocking fee, but it cuts the cost of buying every thing new to find and fix one faulty component.
