Hello I hope I posted in right area.
to the point I ve been having trouble with my ping in vent, xfire , games. So i checked my modems hardware and my modem was set with com1 i moved it to com2 and it seems better now. Will this affect my modem? it shows all the way to com255 but Ive heard you have to do things differently just from com1 to com2.(basically I dont know squat about modems) Ive got a nice system and its newer and I updated the network drivers etc.... so i know thats not causing me the problem.

PS can i move it to com3 or higher me likey the fasty:biggrin:
oh and i have cable and theres only one computer so no wireless/ routers etc....

If you're using cable, it doesn't matter what you set your modem to. You should be using your ethernet port, which doesn't get assigned to a COM port. The modem is for your phone line. If you've got your cable modem (different from your computer modem) hooked up to your computer via USB, I would switch it over to ethernet.

Da Pure - Are you on dial-up? If so, the standard was (back in the 90s when I was working on machines everyday) your mouse was connected to com1 and you modem was on com2. You also need to check in your bios to make sure your comm ports are set correctly. Here is a link to a page that has the proper settings for comm ports.

I hope this helps.
