Nvidia forceware 174.16 vs 169.xx scaing on 8800gt.

When 9600gt was tested on many of the hardware sites they were using 174 drivers and 8800gt or 8800gs were using older 169 drivers which made the 9600gt look good.

The new driver have improvement noticeable in Crysis and huge improvement on Unreal 3 engine based games which bioshock gained 10+ fps, but much more with SLI.174.16WHQL boosting the card 6.43% more than 169.28beta and 169.28 is 1% more than 169.02 WHQL.

I don't know about you but 6% isn't much. Yes it is an improvement but not much. When I switched over to 174 drivers I saw a huge performance gain but as far as scaling goes, nothing's any better.

The 9600's scaling is due to something Nv did hardware-wise. I guess they did something like increased bandwidth between the two GPU's for the SLi bridge.

Perhaps Nvidia is holding the 8800gt back some.

You might be right though 9600gt might have updated their sli bridge.

Never the less these new drivers felt faster than the older 169 drivers with my single G92 chip which made the 9600gt look good than it really is over G92 chips.

Newer drivers always give better performance (Normaly) but the scaling has nothing to do with drivers on the 9600GTs. Its all hardware there.

That's not what the tests says. Just look at bioshock. Bioschock is actually very shader intensive game which gained 45-50% respectively. Most of the games gained a a decent amount whether single or sli performance.

Yea but what makes the scaling so good on the 9600GTs themselves is hardware.
