Well, my monitor wont even power on- its way past warranty, I'm guessing the only thing I can do is buy a new one? It's for my family PC and the monitor is an HP vs19e. Can I get anything out of a dead monitor?

Not really, I have had 2 bad HP monitors in the past, get a Samsung, I got my Grandparents a HP LCD at walmart, like 20 dead pixels, returned, got one with 1 dead one, and they wouldn't let me return it again.
Also, make sure it is dead, you don't want to flush it down the toilet just because it is floating upside down and smells.

Yea, first things first. swap out the cords on that puppy. I thought my old monitor had died once before and it was nothing more then a bad power cord... that was 2 years ago and the thing just got taken out of commision last night.

Well I tried the cables with my other LCD and it worked fine... it's the monitor's problem for sure- there goes $300 down the drain :x
