View Full Version : What are your favorite companies for your varius hardware needs?
Kinda intrested in what people have to say about their favorite companies.
Not, what you use exactly, but what you want to use if possible. And why ya love em.
Motherboards: gota love DFI and Biostar, I had a k6-2+ 500mhz way back in a DFI /w VIA chipset, that ***** never died untill I upgraded to a EE a few ago. Biostar, well, I have never seen a motherboard more stable then the 945P-A7A, that thing took a beating with overvolting, hard shutoffs, powersurges and more and kept going and going, and going, and going, and going, when my otherhardware dint.
Honorable mention to evga for their 680i Im now using.
RAM: My one and only, Mushkin.
graphics cards: I prefer HIS or Diamond for my ATI cards, but evga or xfx for nvidia all the way, warranty, good prices, great rebates. Galaxy I used to love till I couldnt find them at all in the US.
PSUs: PCP&C and Enermax, gota hand it to them, they know how to make those amps :D Expecialy the enermax 400-500W psu's with 20+ amps on the 12vs. But my 1kw with the mega amp, damn :D. but I cant argue agianst hec if im on a tight budget. (585W at newegg, great price (like 25 after rebate, good amps and connectors too.)
Hardrives: WD, raptors, nuff said.
cases: coolermaster, lian-li, anything aluminum/steel and black :D window optinal.
CPU's: VIA, yea, you know why :D *hugs a k6-2+ 500mhz, a Q6600 and a C7* Cant wait for isaiah.
HSF: One word: Nirvana, one moreword: Zerotherm. them be the new gods of hsf. The MIR's bring their HSF from the land of awsome already, to the land of godly. nv120 for $35 after rebate, vs. any zalman or TT? ill take a nv120 anyday less then $60. AC gets a good mention for nice cheap freezer 7 pro.
optical drives: Lite-On and samsung, not much more to be said.
Mice: Logitech
Keyboard: packard bell 5130 (look that one up :P)
monitors: gota have NEC and ViewSonic for my CRTs, add those with Samsung and Hans-G for LCD's.
lapies: Thinkpad, IBM or Lenovo, take a beating, and keepa workin. Acers not bad either. But thinkpad, those things run almost forever.
OS: XP, DSL, RedHat. 98 *yes, 98 still lives for ****s and giggles*
List yors.

RAM: Corsair XMS
graphics cards: Only XFX.
PSUs: Enermax

HSF: ZALMAN
optical drives: Samsung or Phillips
Mice: Logitech
Keyboard:Logitch

I haven't owned much so I haven't really developed a bias. But there are a few things I love.
Air Cooling: Thermalright
I own the Ultra-120.
-Awesome performance and I get to pick the fan to pair it up with.
PC Case: Silverstone
I own a Silverstone TJ07
-This was probably an un-wise "investment," but I got it because of it's design and upgradeability. I really like the rounded look on the front becasause of the uni-body construction. I also prefer the clean look over Lian-Li's grill.
Other than that, I've owned stuff from EVGA, MSI, and Western Digital. Have no real complaints with any of them. I usually buy whatever is good for the money. I don't really swear by any brand. Maybe except for the 2 things mentioned above.

I like Western Digital for hard drives, Samsung for displays, Logitech for mice, keyboards, webcams, sound and just about every other peripheral out there. OCZ are also great people.

Motherboards: Asus or ECS (YAH ECS ive had very good OC results with ECS boards and I will forever remember my K7S5A if you never heard about that board then you aint a real hardware enthusiast :p )
RAM: Crucial (Ive had various brands the first being crucial and the current one being crucial and I have been very happy with them)
graphics cards: XFX hands down without any BIAS.
It was between XFX and EVGA but EVGA providing very ppor customer support and not responding to my many emails for upgrade program id imagine how bad they could be for RMA...ugh
PSUs: Well I havenčt tried PCPC but so far I love my new Tagan PSU.
Hardrives: Western Digital (mostly the only ones that makes the famous raptors !)
cases: Lian-Lis !!!!! (And tagan for their Black Pearl even though its based on a lian-li PCV2000
CPU's: Intel as of right now (Not of all time for sure...)
HSF: Id say Zalman even though i dont use any anymore...
optical drives: Samsung no reason just many good reviews
Mice: Microsoft (dont bash me please :( I love my Intellimouse explorer been using them for years... I loved the older model better though...)
Keyboard: No prefs
monitors: I use a Hans-G bah... but I would say I would kill to have a nice samsung monitor.
lapies: dell or asus
OS: XP Pro We will miss you forever judging how MS is heading...

Motherboards: Asus or ECS (YAH ECS ive had very good OC results with ECS boards and I will forever remember my K7S5A if you never heard about that board then you aint a real hardware enthusiast )That was the board i had my first AMD setup with. What a POS man seriously lol. The dual supporting of PC133/100 and DDR ram just made the board that much slower. Also, it wouldnt OC for anything!! My 950 Duron wouldnt OC, 1.4ghz Thunderbird, or even when i gave it a bios update an AXP 1800+. Eh, oh well lol. I still like that board though for testing purposes. (And Winslow 98se)

Maybe you had a bad board I dont know...
Im not sure if you bought the new version of the K7S5A
That board sold so much that they remade another version of it which was worst then the first gen.
You couldnčt expect a board that would OC to the sky at sub 100 dollars man comon...
I think I had paid mine like 70 USD back in the days.
Anyways for a 70 dollars worth board I think it was like a poor mans porshe...

Altec Lansig deff. cheap, good quality.
Though, the old-day sony stuff was good too. but now they moved to cheap **** that aint worth the plastic they case them in.

I wouldn't rank Altec Lansing as cheap, as my 2.1 set up was $300 new. They sound great though.

$50 JBL Creature IIs. Sound better than my friends Logitech and Altec setups. Then again, when i want loud and sound better i just plug in my PA speakers.

FX6021s are one of the best sounding computer speakers you can buy. It has won awards from many Audiophile magazines, it is not to be used as a boom-box or anything though.

Intel cpu's
Asus or XFX mobo's
Corsair or maybe Kingston Ram
XFX video cards
i like my Cooler master psu although I had one of those modular Ultra's that wasn't too bad for the set-up I had.
Samsung or Dell monitors
I've only had Sony cd and dvd players so I can't say anything more about those . I think i'm ready to try something different as my dvd burner won't burn nothing at all.
I really like my Merc keyboard and my Razer Diamondback mouse.
I've also got 5.1 Logitech speakers too.

I think any company that don't screw you with their rebates or make you wait 6 months to get a rebate will get my business again.
So XFX, OCZ, Microsoft are on top of my list.

Well my favorites change with the parts. It all depends on what the companies put out at the time. This is my current fav's. I can only say what I have experience with so it is limited as there are many many products I have never tried and even companies that I never bought from.
Motherboard: Asus (Never RMA'd a mobo with Asus)
PSU: OCZ and Ultra (only specific models)
RAM: Kingston (Never RMA'd a single stick)
Video: Up in the air on this one. Love the XFX warranty though.
Hard Drives: Seagate, Western Digital
Monitors: Philips, Dell and Samsung.

I know, but they have the fastest rebate department. Check in my hand in 3 weeks. No one else has come close. OCZ in 6 weeks was not bad.
