Hello, I havent been able to use my sound card that I have bought. Ever since the time I had memtested my ram, all went downhill. Putting that aside, I was able to try it on another PC, which to my amazement, it worked. So the sound card is not broken. The problem now is that when I put my sound card in, it causes my video resolution to be at 640x480 4 bit, which I cannot change. In my device manager, my the video card gets a code 12 (This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.). I have resetted my cmos and used fail safe and optimized settings, but still nothing. What should I do?
All i know is that I have to allocate the irq so that they are not sharing, but I dont know how to do that?
*specs at sig.

It is a simple trick and might work... try installing the sound card into several different PCI slots. With luck the board will assign a different IRQ that doesn't conflict for you.
Otherwise if that doesn't work you would need to allocate the IRQ from within your BIOS. Here is a list of them for reference: http://www.pcguide.com/ref/mbsys/res/irq/funcSummary-c.html
To start you would need to find the IRQ # the GPU and sound card were assigned, then change the sound card's IRQ to a different number. IRQ 9 or 10 may work.
Ya can download a manual of your board from here: http://www.pc-bb.com/2007/11/21/abit-ic7-g-abit-nf7-abit-sl6-manuals/
Looking at your manual's BIOS information, you need to enter the PnP/PCI Configuration menu to see the IRQ settings. Specifically, page 3-20 of your manual ;)
Edit: Looking at the IRQ table, install the card into the first PCI slot. If that was the slot you tried, then try one of the others. They do receive different IRQ assignments so what I said to begin with should just work. :)
I suggest using just onboard sound, its cheaper and does the exact same thing.
and if ur using a creative sound card, I suggest you take it back directly to creative's office, find the execs, and shove it deep up theirs.

I agree so much... AFTER 4 MONTHS OF NO SOUND CARD. I FIXED THE PROBLEM. OMFG I ALMOST SHOT MY HEAD OFF BECAUSE THE SOLUTION WAS JUST TO INCREASE MY APERATURE SIZE OF MY VIDEO CARD! OMFG!
thanks everyone for the help though!

If you're going to Creative to shove it... let me send you mine so that you may do the honours too. :P
