Received the Q6600 quad core I won from another forum so I took some time to transfer my parts into the CM Stacker 830 I got from Cooler Master. Not sure if I should remove the wheels and keep it on my desk or keep the wheels on and put it under. What do you think?
I haven't tried overclocking the cpu too much yet, It's at 3.0ghz for now. It's a B3 stepping chip but it looks like it might be a good one.

Thanks, the wiring is a bit messy though, so I need to take some time and clean that up a bit.

Looking good there... :)
B3 vs G0 is mostly hype anyway, the difference in Tjunction between them was behind many of the better temperature reports. Is why I suggest Real Temp now.

I bought that desk from Costco about 10 years ago. I think it cost $250 or so back then. I just put a new floor and carpeting down in the room so I still have some baseboards and moldings to finish up. I picked up the computer cart on the left a few yrs ago from Staples. It's great for working on computers and has lots of storage to boot.
Nice wire managment.
but..I hate the color green. >_<

That's because green is usually associated with envy and intelligence.

Well for the price I paid(FREE)for the case, I won't complain :) Besides that, I'm Irish :)
I plan on removing the mesh on the left side and bolting on a plexi window. It's an easy mod because the nuts are already in place on the side panel.
Use the mesh for the template, cut the window to size, and bolt it on.

nice setup, slug. Hard to believe you won most of it......
Its really nice !
Very nice. All that's needed is a little cable management inside the case and it'll be golden. I like your desk setup, too.

Oh, I've seen alot worse too. It's just his computer would look so much better if he cleaned up his case a bit. I've worked with the case he has and it's pretty good in terms of cable management. Alot easier than my NZXT Zero that's for sure. lol

Thanks sush, I haven't messed with the cpu too much yet. I tried 3.2ghz this morning and when I started folding it gave me a client core communications error and messed up the work unit. I backed it down to 3.0ghz.
Nice case slugbug. It looks exactly like mine ;) Weird that we both have the same case isn't it. Where'd you get yours :whistler:

What kind of temps do you get with your Hyper 212? I'm kinda curious about that.

At 3.0ghz I'm getting about 35c idle and 48c under full load(folding on all 4 cores). Only a few degrees higher than with my E6750.

What's the temp variations on the cores?

2c from lowest to highest temp.

2c from lowest to highest temp.
Damn so you got a pretty flat heat spreader then. Good stuff. Most times you will see anywhere from 4-8 degrees variance due to the warped heat spreader.

Excellent setup. It’s pretty cool that you won most of your equipment. Carpet looks great, too. My only concern is the window. It looks like it is pretty close to eye level and offset just behind you slightly. Since I grew up watching Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, et. Al., I am conditioned to glance out any window that is in my peripheral vision, every twenty or thirty seconds, just to make sure no one has crept up on me. A paranoid person could get a pretty bad neck cramp.
Congrats!:arrow::beerchug:

The window in question is actually under our front gallery so the only things that go bump in the night I've had to worry about are the crickets.

green is the color of my wizard smoke :p.......
If I were you slug, I'd put the beast under the desk, so you dont have it next to your ears. Unless went deaf since the last time I saw you.....? :na: I dont think you are at that age yet....

Hey I'm Irish. I'm compelled to like the color green. Yeah I'll probably put it under the desk once I cut a hole and install one of these to pass the wires through.

I already installed an oval shaped one near my monitor. It's a job to cut a 3" round hole with a jigsaw though. This desktop is thick.
slugbug..... she's beautiful. is that nvidia case aluminium? mmmm, mmmm. may I have some?

just use a drill bit, you can get a 3" one no problem. They make it for boring locksets nice clean cut.
