Muvee lag!!

Well i have 30 days of Night in 1080p HD and boy does it lag. So far this is the only HD movie to make my machine lag the way it does.

I use CCC Codec pack
Ac3 filter
Media Player classic

Any ideas?

Is a MKV-file? Check with Mediainfo (cool program) to see how it was encoded. It is possible it was encoded with the most advanced profile (think it is 5.1 or 5.2) and that taxes even good computers. That profile allows for bitrates up to 300 Mbit/s. Considering even Blu-ray and hD-DVD just use h.264 profile 4.1 (or 4.2) which has a max bitrate of .. 45 Mbit/s I think it is just plai stupid encoding it with the higher profile.

If I remember correctly mkv still is not accelerated by the GPU's and thus taxes your processor a lot. There are guides on the net how to remux a mkv to H.264 4.1 Profile so check around and see if that could be the problem.
