We have a Dell tech support guy here for our Comp Eng course I need to figure this out to win a surprise I dont know what it is but it sounds like a good deal.

Boot off an XP CD. When it comes up and ask for install or recovery console type r for it. If it finds the disk and partition then tell it to go to c: and once at a c:\windows prompt do a chkdsk /r when it it done reboot and see if that fixed the issue.
