Hi guys!

I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to overclocking but I'm having fun reading and trying things.

My question is: As you're overclocking your CPU, are there any video card settings that you should make? I guess what I'm asking is can a big overclock be limited by your video card? Can you damage your video card?

If you are gaming yes. If you are doing something like photo editing then overclocking the processor will help performance. But in games your performance is dependent on your worst component. So if you overclocked your processor 1 gig i doubt youd notice a difference in games since you are using a 3870.

No, overclocking a CPU and video card are done independently and if you only want to overclock your CPU, don't touch any clock settings that are related to your video card.

A video card won't limit your CPU's overclock.

Can you damage your video card?

You won't damage your video card so you shouldn't be worried.

Be careful!! You wont damage your videocard with overclocking but there are a few components you could damage overclocking like the motherboard ram or CPU.

Dont touch voltages on GPU. Unless you know exactly what your doing and dont over-volt your CPU, nb/sb, ram or motherboard/components in general. Do research before overclocking.

Now how are you going to overclock the CPU without overvolting the CPU, nb/sb, FSB and RAM? At least any kind of decent overclock...
