Hi, Prandi.I'm also from India.Get yourself a Samsung SH-S203B Black Sata DVD-RW.You can get it for Rs.1200/-.

Don't get a Lightscribe drive. You won't find blank Lightscribe medias for that.I've used all the other brands like Sony,LG or Lite-on but this Samsung rocks.I've bought it because all the reviews favoured this model. The Digit magazine (u can find that in newsstands) also gave this model best while they have compared it with other models.

If u seriously want to get a Lightscribe drive, then get a Asus 1814BLT (u can find only Asus & Lite-on Lightscribe drives in India) but i will suggest you to buy the Samsung i've suggested above.I'm extremely satisfied with the performance of it.It burns every DVDs under 5 minutes in my machine. It's also an excellent reader.Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

No that's not true.Asus & Pioneer both make their own drives. You can find Pioneer drives but they are very costly.Last i saw a Pioneer DVD-RW which costs 5700/- while other drives can be bought under 1100-1200/-.

Good Choice:-D I would personally have to advice against an ASUS drive as i have had nothing but trouble with one. As for technical support from asus... well lets just not go there.

I also hope that for my drive.I know Samsungs had that tray problem but over the years they have improved a lot.I hope that you will be satisfied with the performance of the samsung drive. You can also ask ( to your vendor) about the Samsung SH-S203N which is a Lightscribe version of the same drive i've suggested you but i think, this new Lightscribe drive still isn't available in India.Best of luck & keep us updated. :)

I have an LG drive and also the Samsung SH-S203N with Lightscribe, and I can tell you the Samsung is a much quieter and better performer than the LG. I'm very happy with the Samsung and highly recommend it. :icon_tiphat:

Yeah i also am extremely happy with my SH-S203B which is just a S203N without the Lightscribe feature.I've never thought it would be better than my previous Sony DRU-830A but i was wrong.I have had multiple Sony drives failure.Wish i would have bought the Samsung at the first place. But anyways,i'm extremely satisfied with the Samsung i have now. :) It burns even the most cheapest 16x blank media at 18x speeds. No burn failure so far. :)

My Philips DVD-rom imports to itunes at 51x, and never failed a burn at full speed with good disks.

Just curious - why isn't Plextor on the list? The drives they make are pretty darn good ( a bit pricey, though).
