best xbox360 res. for my monitor?

Hi guys. I need help with setting up good resolution for my monitor in xbox 360. I have a tv but my tv is big and way too old. Simply, its not hd or not even close at all. Last month, I bought like hdmi dvi converter and audio stuffs to connect my 360 to lcd screen. My monitor is 22 inch samsung 2232BW. It's max resolution is 1680*1050. I want my monitor to produce its best. I roamed around 360's res. setting but there is no option for 1680*1050. I don't know which one I should set it too. I think there is every res. except 1680*1050. For example, 800*600, 1024*768, 1280*720,etc. The basic res. up to 1080p are there. I tried 1920*1080 and it worked but I don't know why... -.-......

1280*720 is best, 1080, will work, but you will lose some pics on the edge.

Actually you wont loose anything but the picture will look funny. I used a wide screen res on mine and it scrunched everything to it looked taller. Use which ever res looks the best to you. You'll most likely get the best picture using 1280x720.
