Need some help guys. First before miker ask here are the system specs:
Pentium 4 3.0E
512(waiting on replacement memory)ddr400
6800XT AGP
250gig Sata 1.5
Dvd R/W
no floppy
Three 120mm fans
ultra 500watt P/S
First I plugged in my kill-a-watt meter to check output, and I am drawing 228watts under load test. So when I checked voltages my 12volt rail is only putting out 10.43 volts. I contacted Ultra and they are sending me a new P/S
Would this cause Video Cards, memory and wireles nic card to go bad, or just act funny? My current wireless nic card keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. I have had random memory errors and system hangs.
As always Thanks in advance!!

I would say it would cause those problems.
New PSU should fix that.

Yea deff PSU undervolting. It causese to go nuts then eventualy quit........*wonders about current video card problem* I think it might be time for me to get a new PSU as well.
edit: Nvm, just did a test and during 3dmark run max settings it never went below 11.95.

Unfortunately, it is PSU undervolting. I guess you have no choice but to replace your PSU in the near future, or...you can always wait till it dies completely...

Waiting till it dies completely might take something out with it.

There's a point in what you're saying. I guess it's a bit risky going with the PSU this its last moments, as like you say, it might take with it also the mobo, RAM and/or video card, when it'll die...

Yeah never try running a bad PSU in your machine. There's a risk of damaging the internal peripherals specially the mobo & the HDD.I've seen HDDs to generate bad sectors because of a bad PSU.Never compromize on that & get yourself a branded PSU immediately.

I contacted Ultra Products(tigerdirect) and they paid to return the bad unit and are cross shipping me a X3 600 watt. I am guessing that my Video card problems was due to low voltage. I actually thought Ultra was a good brand till I read up on this forum how cheap they really are. I just hope no more problems.
Thanks for the help guys

That's VERY GOOD news!!! It's always nice to see another satisfied customer, mainly when it comes from Ultra Products! So, it seems they have a good Service and Support, which is VERY important! ;-)
I hope (and I'm pretty sure) your new/RMAed PSU will be good this time.
Keep us updated...:icon_tiphat:

Ultra is good, its what im running. You just have to get certain models becasue they cheap out on the other ones. Like for instance if you read a thread around here it tells of what mine has gone against.

The new CorsairTX series might be a better choice, though. But since he is going to get a new replacement he might not go for another brand at this time.
I have a CorsairTX at 650W at home and it replaced my NeoPower 480W which stopped working after 3 years in january this year. I loved the NeoPower for it's extremely quiet operation! I have never been so impressed about a powersupply when it comes to noise levels, although my new CorsairTX delivers a much higher effiency which saves me money on my electricity bill.

Its not the X3 1000 but it should still be good.

Like PP said, it's not X3 1000W PSU, but it's still a good one, which I'm pretty sure will be a good replacement for your "dying" PSU. ;-)

Got the replacement PSU. However it is a 24pin model and my Motherboard is a 20 pin. Thinking about swapping out my X2 psu which has that 20+4pin setup. Either way it should work out fine.

Just plug it in like you normaly would. I do that and it still fits.

I know I can plug it in, but I think my X2-5600 and 8800GT with duel Hard drives would benefit more from the X3 600 watt than my Pentium4 AGP setup....
