Liking it so far, wish I had better RAM though. XP SP3, all air

Thats a great overclock...well beyond 4 ghz...I dont see a problem with your ram at all.

I would love some that would do CAS 4 at lower FSB, say 411 x 9, for daily driving. A 9.5 multi like the E8500 would be sweet as well. Don't get me wrong this is the best chip I ever had and I really enjoy it but it is an addiction I suffer from.

Next time, please post in the overclocking forum! Nice overclock, and your RAM must be better than mine, so stop complaining...lol-jk

Well I posted a screenie of a benchmark too so that belongs here methinks. Thanks for the kudos guys. I could get a CPU-z with a higher overclock but that would be neglecting my 9800GX2.

You should bench it in 3DMark06 as well.

Anyone have an idea why when I overclock the video card in Aquamark the score actually drops??? I used nothing but mobo BIOS tweaks to get this,

Hard to tell aquamarks is a little long in the tooth to be using for much hardware that's current.

Well at hwbot a lot of people are doing wonders in it and they have been OC'ing their 9800GX2's while running Aquamark and improving their scores. Some have over 300,000 in Aquamark with a single card. I just find it weird that OCing the card benefits all the other benchmarks but not this one, for me at least??? With the 8800 Ultra the score improved in Aquamark when OC'ing the card so...?

Went on a hunt for an answer to the Aquamark issue. Some very insightful people have told me that the GPU is so strong that the CPU hasn't got enough "legs" to keep up with it. In effect a CPU wall. On a side note is anyone aware of any CAS 4 DDR2 that might run 1200MHz-ish?

Poked the E8400 in the eye with a cattle prod, on air.

Wow thats awsome.

I came across a few threads stating the 45nm are very fragile past vcore 1.36 and degenerate very fast after that.

hows performance at that speed

That speed is only for Pi benchies, if you mean how things "seem" in windows at that speed it is incomprehensible.

I too have seen much of the warnings concerning these CPU's and volts, it was a calculated risk I took only to try to get sub 10 seconds in Pi. On air that is likely the best I will do with this chip. I have seen another get over 4700MHz on air with his E8400 and he got 9.75 seconds in SuperPi 1M sigh..... :( I know there have been better then that as well but I think that is the limit for my rig.

4800MHz on air, 1.7V in Bios, had to use SetFSB to get the clocks wouldn't boot above 529 FSB in BIOS:

Awsome score Limbo.
I've got a P35 DS3-P & 533fsb sees it out as well.
I watercooled the chipset but it made no difference.
4800MHz on Air :jawdrop:

very nice OC !!!
Pleases me to see some good overclocking on bjorn3d. You should go post that OC on extremesystems, thats the place for this kind of stuff.

The p35 is a killer budget chipset, and I hope you chip enjoyed the rip to 1.7v, I hope you run it @ less than 1.4v 24/7.....

I was torn between a e8400 and a q6600, nice to see someone else giving the new 45nm a run for its money.

I actually tried 1.75Vcore but it wouldn't post, had to reset the CMOS, thought it was a goner. :ahhhhh: I did one run above that at 536 FSB and got a 9.719s SuperPi but it bluescreened before I got the screenie. :frown:

I have it at 3.82GHz for normal use and give it 1.375V Vcore for that. So far the only "normal" use it has seen is "The Witcher" and "GRID" though...

Thanks for the kind words! :thanks:

What are your ambient temps?

What are your ambient temps?

In the basement with central air on looking at about 18.5 Celsius for those runs.

I have one of these on my TRUE and one on my RAM:
NMB-MAT (Panaflo) 120MM Ultra High Speed Cooling Fan 2750RPM 114.7CFM 45.2DBA 3PIN W/ Sensor

5 of these in my case:
ThermalTake Smart Blue 120mm LED Case Fan Blue
Fan Dimension: 120x120x25 mm
FAN Speed :
- 1300±20% RPM at 20°C
- 2800±10% RPM at 55°C
Max. Air Flow: 38.6~93.7CFM

2 of these in my case as well:
ThermalTake Smart Blue 90mm LED Case Fan Blue
Fan Dimension: 90x90x25 mm
FAN Speed :
- 1300±20% RPM at 20°C
- 4000±10% RPM at 55°C
Max. Air Flow: 24.6~78.7CFM

With my homemade case I see better results with the side panels on rather then off.
