Hey guys good news !
I finally installed my replacement striker extreme.
I changed the screws for the CPU mount cause the older ones were getting all striped and I couldnt tighten them much anymore cause I was scared they would get stuck there if I tried to hard.
Right now I tightened the screws as hard as I could without breaking the motherboard so the freezer head would make as much contact as possible with the CPU and guess what !
My CPU is at -48c.
The only problem ... the new striker motherboard cant run my Crucial Ballistix Tracer (Or should I say the new BIOS...
Ill have to see if im better off flashing it to the first BIOS the striker had.
Ill have to see if the new bios can get me a high enough or higher OC then the first one.
So right now I got value ram in there but my girlfriend was waiting for me yesterday so I didnèt get a chance to boost the voltage and then swap the memory sticks to the Tracer...
Anyways, seems like finally my problems will be over, and I will once again surf with my machine at what it used to be !
3.7GHZ !!!
(I still want a quad core though :( )

Phase cooling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_cooling#Phase-change_cooling). Just google up the "Prometeia Mach II GT".

Hey Jules !
Yah I used your value ram to get it to boot but my girl was waiting for me in the car so I couldnt up to voltage and swap the ram.
Ill probably do that tonight.
Right now im about to put the Raidmax cooler and my Mushkin 650W in her PC.
Anyways you said you wanted the enermax 550W right ??
Wonder what diff in temps I will get with that cooler though.
Ill let you guys and take a pic in about an hour to show you guys my girlfriend s computer :)
BTW Team Fortress is awesome !!
Ima buy it once I get the net back.
Thanks for letting me play hehe.
I really like the pyro guy !

(BTW Jules hope you didnt forget to call your girlfriend back yesterday, you told her 10 mins but we played for a little while ... )

Well if your food freezer goes out all you have to do is hook up your cpu cooler.:beerchug:

How loud is phase cooling.

How loud is phase cooling.

Rotary compressors are loudest, think for benchers only, regular (reciprocating) compressors, depends on size/model and design, there is also cascade which is doubling/tripling compressors with varied coolants to obtain more extreme temps.

The Prometia claims 31 dBA under normal operation. 39 dBA at startup. Clickety me. (http://www.frozencpu.com/products/1255/cas-329/Prometeia_Mach_II_GT_Phase-Change_CPU_Cooler_Unit_9290GT_-_w_Free_Green_LCD_Kit.html)

Very loud... so you gotta be ready to trade performance for your own quality of life...

Is phase cooling practical?

Not at all.
Its heavy, it takes forever to mount it on your CPU cause you need to seal your procy with the head.
But as far as I go im pretty used to it and well I love taking any procy and be able to bring it to its limits...

You do some pretty extreme stuff lol.

-48c is like insane cooling, but as long as it keeps you happy and gives you some thing to do what the heck.

When I was younger I used to run the roads and party like a wild man, along came computers (and a wife) and I don't even miss running the roads (except for a set of twins, Sandy and Mandy, I really miss them).

Those temps are impressive, I must admit. There is no question that you enjoy extreme performance and bang for your buck! Temps like that would keep a T1000's (terminator) chips cool under full load!

Its fun... until you start busting your equipment...
I think I will have to send my Striker Extreme in RMA once again...
5th one down the drain !! WHOOO...ugh
Its ridiculous.
The first board I had was a monster.
I could do 3.7Ghz stable with my ram at 1131.
Now all the new gen boards are pieces of crap.
I just uped the NB voltage to 1.5 and BAM the board is fried...
But its all part of the fun !
At least this time I got to 3.825Ghz on the little e4300 !!
And I did play COD4 and UT for like hours and nothing happened...until I played with the NB...
Seems like these NB on the striker ex. are weak or the whole 680I cant take much voltage.
Very sad ideed...
