Just found this (http://technorumble.com/2008/04/27/geforce-9900-gtx-gts-based-on-the-gt200-nvidia-geforce-9800-gts/). Looks as though ATI is makeing the 4870 and 4850 which should be out soon.
The new graphics card should assume the brunt of the AMD Radeon HD 4870 and HD 4850 (http://technorumble.com/2008/04/26/radeon-hd-48504870-details-on-specifications-and-prices/), that promise to appear in the market for one and a half or two months earlier.
Flagman future line GeForce 9900 GTX will receive full graphical kernel GT200 with 240 universal conveyors and 512 - bit memory interface.
Looks to be pretty powerful if the stats are right.
This may or may not be true just shareing the information.

Just found this (http://www.vr-zone.com/articles/GeForce_9900_GTX_%26_GTS_Slated_For_July_Launch/5718.html) wich seems to be pointing twards a July release. Looks like ATI is going to compete for the performance crown once again. SO maybe those leaked tests of the 4870 are real. :ahhhhh:

I really hope the ATI will be able to compete this round.
Unless Nvidia cards get folding support i'm definitely getting an ATI card.

Based on the leaked design pictures, expect the 9900GTX to be roughly the same length as the 9800GTX.
The 9900GTX sounds impressive but I wanna know how how this thing can get since its expected to puts out alot of heat.

Get water cooling solves everything.

Youll have to wait at least a month for a water block for it.
Goliath182
05-14-2008, 02:57 AM
Then you get to wait for the outrageous prices to go down, and stock to go up. Whos to say that Nvidia doesnt have a water cooled card up there sleeve.

Because Nvidia dont make reference water cooled cards. The manufacturers put water cooling on them for resell.

Which would probably lead to new ATX standard and new cases which means more whiney people to ***** about needing to buy new everything to use a new video card. Yea, doubt it will happen.

It wont affect cases since all of the slots are the same size. Well if its a choice of winers or a card that will die after a hour which would you rather choose lol.

Nvidia has informed their partners about the change in naming for the upcoming GT200 series today. Previously, the marketing name for GT200 is GeForce 9900 series when launched but now it has been changed to GeForce GTX 200 series. GeForce 9900 GTX is now GeForce GTX 280 and GeForce 9900 GTS is now GeForce GTX 260. Nvidia has decided to launch them slightly earlier to coincide with RV770 launch which is around third week of June. However, Nvidia plans to show the GeForce GTX 280 card behind doors at Computex.

According to several sources close to the company, the new flagship chip codenamed GT200 and D10U-30 and D10U-20 will end up with Geforce GTX 280 brand for the faster card.

What??? GTX 280 and 286? that has to be the dumbest naming scheme ive ever heard.
Nice price on the GTX 280! even cheaper than the card it replaces.

oh great, another new naming scheme to remember.....

I remember seeing something about them revising the naming scheme. Seems like we're doing away with all the GT/GTX/GTS/Ultra stuff and going to a straight numbering scheme with higher numbers being faster cards. Too many people have complained about the current naming scheme, methinks.

Thats dumb. Theyve had GT/GTS/GTX/Ultra for a long time. Maybe if Nvidia didnt release a bunch of cards that mixed up the line up people wouldnt get confused.

Which is why nVidia is taking an idea from ATi's book with how they name their cards.
Goliath182
05-16-2008, 06:46 PM
Well if they pull something like they did with the 512 GTS beating the GTX only with numbers it will still be confusing to someone who didnt do their homework.

Yea, and they have had GT, Ultra, GTX for a while. none of this GS GTS nonsense. But, i said they where changing the name a long time ago. Looks like they are finally doing it.

I dont even see why someone just buys a card only to find out they payed too much for it. Maybe they should do some homework. Its not like you go up and randomly buy a house without looking at it. There essentially doing the same thing.
