Well currently i have this rig

AMD X2 3800 + @ 2.7ghz
2gb of Kingston 4x512mb DDR425
ASUS A8N-SLI SE
EVGA 8800GTS 640MB
Auzentech X-plosion
Seagate 500GB
650watt Mushkin

Me and my friend put our older hardware together and made this 'server'
PD 940 3.2ghz
ASUS P5LD2-DELUXE
2gb Kingston Value Ram DDR2 667
X1950XT
160GB Maxtor
550watt Antec

Since i am going to be upgrading to Q6600 and using the XFX 680i LT (TY), my CPU/MOBO/RAM is gonna be extra.

I was going to give it to my brother but had an idea of giving him the 'server' CPU/MOBO/RAM and then putting mine into the 'server'

my question is, stock speeds, is the AMD faster than the INTEL? The intel is DDR2 while i am DDR1. Also, if the AMD X2 is clocked at 2.7ghz and the PD at 4ghz, which would be faster? We had them both clocked that high, although mine was maxed out and his was not, was too scared to go higher, but 4.5 was possible.


My bro is going to be transferring his 7900GS and 320GB Seagate drive from his "HP" that used to be mine

I believe the PD at 4ghz is a no brainer that its faster.

well in SuperPI and 3dmark the AMD X2 @ 2.7ghz was kinda ahead, but in CSS he always had higher FPS in me in the stress test.

Well gaming benches wont really help in server apps. Super Pi is a start. You need to run PC Mark and other benches like that to see how well each system will perform as a server.

it doesnt matter which is better for the server, the loewst of the 2 will be tossed there.

Well your post was kinda confusing. I know you asked which was the better outa the 2 but i didnt know if you meant for your brother or gaming.

Give him the PD. My cousin has one and even though it doesnt compare to a same clocked X2, there still beats. :) Anyways with a 4.5 OC on the PD it will easily beat the X2.
