NB/SB and RAID

I should know this but don’t and can’t quite get a handle on the answer. On a 680i board, are the NB or SB involved in anyway with the onboard RAID controller?

I believe the southbridgeis responsible for this on the 680i boards. the 430 chipset is the integrated raid controller, dont qoute me on the soutbridge chipset exactly.
