In here!! So i was told if you want high clocks you need to lower your HT link. Ive been running at 4x this whole time. Would i get higher OC if i lowerd to 3x? Other sites suggest so but i trust you guys more.:grouphug:

Its recommend to keep the HTT at ~1000Mhz but no higher than 1200MHz so a HTT.
One thing to keep in mind is because the latency of the HTT is so small/short, you won't notice a performance difference with having the HTT at any frequency be it 600MHz, 800Mhz or 1000MHz.
And yes, setting the HTT to 3x could give you a higher overclock.

Well i did that and i still cant get past 2.86ghz :/

Go way down and you may get a higher overclock. Generaly 3x is low enough for most overclocks, but you can try going down to 2.

How many sticks of memory are you running? I could get better overclocking with my socket 939 4200+ with just 2 sticks in. When I went 4 sticks of matching memory I lost atleast 10% of my overclock.

guess ur CPU cant go higher man
there is a brick wall, guess you hit it!

Whenever i do an OC i take 3 sticks out leaving me with only 512mb of ram in slot one. Ill try going to 2 later on but i doubt it will help. Probably right, probably just a wall.

Phase change that beast and up it to 1.6 volts. Actually dont lol thats a little overboard, but better cooling will probably help you get a little higher.

At 1.7v i still couldnt break the wall. When running 1.57v i never exceeded 53c with the blower sitting on my desk.

Try turning the PCI-e clock to 107.

Isnt it bad to go above 100? And what does that have to do with CPU?

It will over clock your graphics card slightly so dont boot with them cranked. Ive seen a lot of people who when they turn that up to 107 can pull out a higher oc. I dont know how it works i just know it does.

Well i use a custom bios on my cards to leave it stock at highest OC possible. I dont think thats such a good idea.
Tried both x2 HT and 107mhz PCI-E and didnt work. Guess im stuck with 2.86ghz. Lame OC.

You might get arties. Its not enough to fry your cards even if they are on the edge i was just saying to take off any OC so you dont get arties.

Well i dont have any OC i use a custom bios instead. Im to lazy to OC my cards everytime i format (which is alot). Didnt work anyways.

I leave my CMOS battery out and store my BIOS to a USB drive, ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe. Just have to take ten seconds to reload it from the file and I can reset BIOS just by pulling the plug.
Everyone does it different, but I would reccomend your stock settings be in a safe range.
You have to consider that that chip was run off the same silicon as any 3800+ to 6400+, its just a matter of what the chip tested to. A 4000+ 'bin' is a chip that runs under any circumstance (extremes of heat, etc) at 4000+ settings, meaning it could not achieve the stock settings of a higher-rated chip. This is the idea if 'binning' chips. Think of some guy sitting in a room with a hot-swap socket for CPUs plugging one in after another and sorting them by how far he can overclock them (or more realistcally, what they can run at a given maximum theoretical temperature) and putting each into a rack of bins (hence the term). Though you can put non-stock cooling on a 5000+ and achieve 6000+ clocks, the quality of the chip has already been noted and priced, and the 6000+ will likely go far further in the same situation.
tl;dr you get what you pay for.
... unless you buy a $50 single core and put it under peltier and pull 3.6ghz out of it. 1ghz overclock, I was bored and had a goal.

Lol i got a 1ghz OC out of my 3000+ on air.

Do you pretty much OC everything you got????
Will you OC the new cards if you make a good trade?

Yea i do, thats why im also a part of overclock3D. Besides why not? Pay less for better performance. And yea i will oc any card i get. If i could figure out a way id OC my phone to make it go faster too. And cooking.
