I had to RMA an 7900gt and received a new card today, ...the 8600gts. So I went ahead and plugged it in, connected all the cables, and started it up to receive a flashing black screen(flashed once every 5-10 seconds). I figured it might be a power issue so i unplugged 3 out of 4 hard drives (need one for an OS). I started it up to receive the same flashing black screen, I made sure I was on the right channel. Right now my build consists of 4 gb ddr2 800 Corsair XMS2 ram, e6600 core 2 duo (2.4ghz), 1x 160gb hd(only with windows xp), ASUS p5b deluxe mobo, and a cd/dvd drive. The power supply is a 650W Cooler Master.

:help: Any help is greatly appreciated. :help:
Thanks.

Is it the 8600GTS 512MB card? If so you need to use the power cable that came with it or it will not function correctly.

It was a 512 MB card, the RMA didn't come with anything but the card. Let me check the box...nope nothing else.

edit: if you are talking about the 6 pin power, my psu has one, thats whats plugged in at the moment.

Actually that card will not work with the normal 6 pin connector it requires a special adapter. PM me your ticket number and I will get one on its way now.

The bad part is the adapter is 2 molex to 1 PCI-E. I have the same exact problem.
