Sli not recognized 8800GT Alpha Dog

Hi there

I just upgraded my system with a 2nd 8800GT 600 Alpha Dog, Quadcore Q6600 and Asus 5PN-E SLI to set up a SLI System.

Unfortunately Windows XP recognizes only 1 card and there is no SLI Option to enable in Nvida Control Panel. I have doublechecked that the SLI selector on the MB is set to Dualcard, the SLI bridge is installed. I have also tried both cards separately and they both work standalone, but I can`t seem to figure out how to get Win Xp to register both cards.

Tools as Rivatuner 2.0.9 and GPU-Z.0.2.2 also report 1 card only. Currently I`m using the forceware 175.70 drivers, but have also tried with XFX recommended 175.16.

I used the Driver remover before installing both. I`m not sure if I have to change anything in the MB bios settings. Also both 8800GT are on different bios. One is using 62.92.16.00.A3 and the other 62.92.16.00.84.

Should I upgrade the bios to the same. And if yes, which BIOS should I use and which flash tool should I use ? Please help me figuring out how to use SLI. Thank you very much in advance.

There is only one card listed in Device Manager? Are there any questions marks in the Device manager, perhaps not recognizing the other card until the driver is installed?

Just a short follow-up.

I have been trying all weekend long to get this to work, reading here reading there, but to no avail. I had swithced cards around like 100 times, but last night in the end I tried to reseat the SLI EZ-selector again.

And alas, after rebooting the system the windows device manager is showing both cards, a reinstall of drivers even got me the SLI Option in the NVIDIA control panel, unfortunately when I activate SLI enabled the system doesn't save the config. The screen goes black for a few second and then returns with SLI Option disabled and GPU-Z.0.2.2 detects SLI as available but deactivated.

Can anybody help me with this new problem.
