Some GTX 280 pics have revently been realeased. You can see in the picture what Nvidia was talking about when they said they were going to have a hard time fitting it on one PCB.

and how many amps will we need to run this?

And is it going to be a three slot cooler, or a four?

No specs on power useage have been released.

It will be a dual slot cooler.

Rumored to be:

512-bit
1 gig GDDR-3
240 Stream processors

Poor baby, she's naked and all alone, she needs an ATI card besides her.

The 4870 should be out by the time it gets released. ;-)

Bah, old news. I think its as long as a 9800/8800GTX.

Expect it to draw quite a bit of juice when under a full load along with it giving off considerable amount of heat since its a 236W video card. Don't forget to reach real deep since it'll be quite expensive but that is to be expected when launching a highend video card.

Also I wouldn't expect a dual video card using the GT200 core.

I wouldn't expect a GTX280GX2 using the GT200 core.

There doesnt need to be one it already beats a GX2 with one GPU.

Thats not my point, my point is fitting two GT200 cores on one PCB would be one longass card that would consume an insane amount of electricity along with enough heat to cook your dinner.

Anyhow all of this is another subject.

Thats not really off topic.

I dont think you could fit two of these with a dual slot cooler. To make a GX2 They would need at least a 3 slot cooler, because this has one MONSTER die.

[H]ardocp had some pics of this card from VRZone.
To me it looked pretty much like another 9800 gtx or gx2.
It had pics of the housing as well.

Length wise yes but not performance wise as the GTX280 should be quite fast.

Should be, and this time last year they where saying that the 9800GTX was supposed to be teh pwnage card. Salt.......

Lets hope Nvidia doesnt add more salt with this...

Yea that would help i could use that to pay off some cash i owe because of my new Opty.

It looks good, if the stats are what they really say this card will pwn Crysis.

Yea other people didnt, i saw the 70 whatever bandwidth and knew it was gonna suck.

Well, during that time we didn't think the 9800GTX was gonna be a rebadged/recycled card.

Anyone think this thing is TOO big and takes TOO much power? I mean this thing alone takes more power than my Celeron L system with a 7800GTX and my Pentium M desktop PC together.

I wonder what the GTX240 and GTX 220 will be like?

Goliath182

Its never too big or too powerful.

Id have to shoot myself if my main pc had a Celeron lol.

This would go nice with my 1KW PSU, its craving for a power hungry card. :)

What if it was celeron 300A?

Goliath182
06-04-2008, 02:55 AM
Id only get a Celeron that has better performance than any other Intel, which will never happen.

:)

Same here, thank god my Pentium M PC is going to be my main PC ;)

Anyways, I guess if you had the money and didnt mind the extra heat, these things would be pretty cool.

I would shoot myself in the arm if I spent more than $200 on a single piece of hardware though. *Zing :ahhhhh:

Lol well youd shoot yourself a bunch of times if you had my pc.

Lol well youd shoot yourself a bunch of times if you had my pc.

After the first few shots I am sure that my arm would seperate from my body... LOL

Anyways, I am glad more and more companies are switching to the sexy looking black PCB. Much batter looking than a green or yellow OEM color.

I actually like the green ones better. I prefer the color.

I would also like to see cards with better styling, after the 8800 GTX there hasn't been a good looking design in my opinion.

I don't want to look at naked graphics cards. Its looks so empty.

I wanna see a giant copper heatsink on a newer video card like my pwnage 6800GT had.
