hi everybody,
i have a weird problem.

i have a new mobo and cpu and a 8800 gt. the first time i put the power on, the whole thing exploded, so i got a new thingie where you put the power cable in. second time, all the fans started working before i pushed the powerbutton!! after that i didn't get a signal on my screen

my friend and i thought it was the chipset, so we took all the stuff not needed for startup out (including the geforce 8800 gt) and when i put the power back on, the fans kept their cool till i pushed the button. windows started just like normal etc. i installed the chipset and i thought all was fine, but when i put the vid card back in, the same thing happened again, the fans started working before i pushed the button and no signal on my screen. no bios or anything.

when i pulled the vid card out, everything worked properly again.

could someone tell me why my vid card is messing everything up? :P

i've got a asus p5vd2 -mx se mobo.

allright after some simsalabim, the computer suddenly remembered it has a power button and stopped screwing around. now it only starts when i push the button.

but at startup the monitor still doesn't show anything. no bios or anything.
the monitor is fine, i tested it on another computer.

Your motherboard uses a VIA chipset. They are not compatible with PCIE 2.0 cards. Start a support ticket at http://www.xfxforce.com/web/support/supportCentral.jspa and PM me the ticket number. You can check with your motherboard manufacturer to see if they have a BIOS update that will fix the problem. If not, than we may have a work around.

The only thing that worries me is the exploded comment. I hope the card wasn't damaged from that. Can you try the card in another system with an NVIDIA, Intel, AMD, or ATI chipset?

What does explode mean? It could be PSU related (First thing that comes to mind with a explosion) or a Mobo problem.
