What are you trying to do with the nforce tools?
A lot of what I see with Nforce system tools is problems. Crashes a lot of systems.
The CPU is best Overclocked in Bios, and the GPu best overclocked with Riva Tuner.
I might be mistaken but I don;t believe The Nforce Tools are written by XFX but by the Nforce chip manufactures so there's no guaranteed compatibility with the XFX board.
It's a very feature rich BIOS with a lot of great Ocing options. I'd dump the nforce tools and use an OC guide to clock it up.

System Tools is written by NVIDIA and you shouldn't really see any problems when using it for mild overclocking. It is great for monitoring and updating drivers and BIOS. When using it for BIOSes always check for the latest version. I like the profile ability they put in it. You can set switches the when your card reaches a certain temperature to change the fan speed or when you launch a certain application to overclock something for example. Is it when you launch the application or when you launch a certain portion of the application that this happens? You may want to download the latest chipset and display drivers from our site and then uninstall everything, run Driver Cleaner(http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745) on your display drivers in safe mode, and reinstall everything to ensure that everything is clean.

Hey they crashed my Vista 64 also. I gave up on using them and moved to RivaTuner.

As soon as I try to launch the application my system shuts down. I already have the latest chipset driver from XFX installed. I haven't updated the video drivers so I'll give that a try.
I just want to monitor my temps and control fan speeds.

Brett,
It is not just nForce motherboards that do not like the ntune on Vista 64. You have to install ntune to overclock you video card and it crashes my Asus X38 board everytime I want to look at temps for the video card. I get big BSOD.
You might want to see what third party apps there are for monitor motherboards. I actually use an EVGA tool for overclocking my video card and monitoring its temps. You have to join their forums to get it but it works great since I also have the Logitech keyboard with display. http://www.evga.com/articles/405.asp

I agree with Scott that if System Tools is giving you issues try another application, especially if the system is problem free without using System Tools.

Agreed with the above.. Im running Vista 64 and although the new nforce tools work its still buggy. RivaTuner also crashes my system, but the EVGA Precision tool works perfectly for the GPU
