You should be fine.

That should work without issues, I actually don't know of any motherboards that a 9600GT wont work in, as long as the motherboard has a PCI-E slot and you have a 6 pin power connector from your PSU it should be ok.

Okay, thanks guys! I run XP... this shouldn't be a problem either, right?

Nope. Anything Windows 2000 and later should be fine.

It won't work in a VIA PCI-e 1.0 Mobo with out a BIOS update, or was that only the 8800s?

It would be a good idea to update your mobo BIOS anyway.

The 9600GT will work with VIA boards. The chip on those are a little trickier so it gets around the incompatibility by reverting to PCIE 1.1 when it doesn't get contact from the board, or something like that.

One final question, guys!

I'm wondering if my PSU can handle the card... I wrote down the specs as listed on the PSU itself. It should be said that I have 2 harddrives connected to it already.

ATX V12 Power Supply
DC Output 5v=40A
+12v=16A
+3,3v=35A
+12v2=18A

-5v=0
-12=0,5A
+5vsb=2,5A
PG

Output Watts=500W
+5v
+3,3V
180W

Once again, thanks! You have been very helpful so far.

Yes, just make sure the 12v 18a is going to the GPU.

Can you test the card in another system? I would hate to go through a bunch of testing if it turned out to only be a faulty card. Does another card work in this system?

Yes the card works on store's system. and get this works on my mobo only when I put the mobo is sli mode even though I am running one card. Waiting on gigabyte for an answer. Can anyone here explain why this happens?

Does your mobo have a PCIeX16 slot? Then yeah it works.

Do you have another card that works in the first PCIE slot? It could be a faulty slot. Those aren't common but I have personally had one before.

The answer is yes. The mobo does have 2 16x pcie slots and I do have a previous vga card that works in the slot. It's a evga nvidia 6200 le with tc.:help: the 9600gt still only boots if the bord is in sli mode.
