Do both the 32 and 64bit Vista installs work fine? The only problem is you can't access the 64bit install drive from within 32bit Vista?

It sounds like Vista 32bit simply doesn't want to read the 64bit install, but I'd find that surprising if so. I haven't had a chance to switch to 64bit Vista as all I have is a 32bit version.

It is worth noting there is no real reason to have Vista 64 and 32. Use 32bit XP and 64bit Vista.

Hi Kougar yes both the 32bit and the 64bit work fine apart from that AD-AWARE wont run on the 64bit freezes after two mins ?? its just the 32bit one does'nt see the samsung drive (64bit) at all , As for having both Miker I have had the 32bit since I built this rig and dont want to take it off untill I am sure the 64bit one is ok I intend to only have the 64bit in the end so I can make full use of the ram may even put another 2 x 2gb in I already have xp 32 on about 4 of my rigs , To be honest I like vista better and the 64bit seems a tad faster

Well now I know why the 32bit system would'nt see the samsung drive , Today it just died on me tried to boot up and it would'nt , It seems that there is a fault with these 750gb one's lots of people having trouble with them Just as well I kept the 32bit one

Try this.

Right click "Computer" and select "manage", now select "Disk management", it might take a minute or two to show up, so have patience.

See what drives come up.

If you have an unformatted drive, I know this is about the only way in the GUI to format it.

Done all that more time's than I count Strange though I just today put another harddrive
in and the 32bit vista did'nt see that either so i formatted it on another computer with vista 32bit on it and that one saw it no problem I then put it back on the first system and the vista 32 on that rig still didnt see it?? so I set it up as the primary and installed the 64 bit system on it and it works fine it sees the drive with the 32bit on ,But the
32bit still does'nt see the drive with the 64 bit on but if I put a blank maxtor harddrive I have in Both 32bit and the 64bit sees it I have updated all drivers but still the same I might try reinstalling the 32bit system tomorow I spoke to the uk xfx tech about it today and he said disable raid and when I said it was his reply was "well that's weird is'nt it" not alot of help but I suppose he's right it is weird
