Hello everyone, I've recently come across a troublesome issue with my year-old XFX 8600GTS. Like many others, I originally had a 7900 GT that was deemed defective and I was given an 8600GTS as a replacement around last March. I've never had any problems with it until now when yesterday I turned on my computer to a very unusual POST beep pattern. My mobo's manual indicates that this pattern indicates that there's "No video card or bad video RAM" (ASUS mobo, Award BIOS - 1 long, 3 short). After this failed POST, the computer restarted itself and loaded up just fine, giving it's usual 1 beep POST code to test the speakers.
I initially thought nothing of this incident until I decided to run World of Warcraft. The first thing I noticed was that it was running at around 5-10fps instead of my usual 60fps. Not only that, but I couldn't run Ventrilo with WoW simultaneously, my microphone would freeze up and no longer transmit.
So I opened up my case and dusted out the video card and reseated it, but unfortunately it did not fix the issue. Now, whenever I start up my computer it goes through 1 failed POST responding with the video card error then after a self-restart it loads fine, with the aforementioned issues of course.
Any feedback on what this could be would be greatly appreciated as this XFX card issue is just too much to take after already going through the 7900GT debacle. Thanks for your time.
