I understand that the P05 bios for 790i was once officially available at XFX site since early June, but now being removed already. :jawdrop:

Anyone here knows the reason, or if it means a newer Bios soon to be released? Thanks

They are probably taking the P05 down to replace it with the P5P. If anyone needs it in the meantime PM me and I can email it to you.

I would wait for the P5P, as P05 is not much better then P04

I thought only 780i would need P5P to address the famous video corruption issue.

790i deserves P5P as well? OK.

Anyone knows the timeline of 780i & 790i newer BIOS to be released from XFX?

P5P is only for the 780. I misread the thread name. Sorry to confuse everyone. The 780 P05P is on the site and the P05 is on the site for the 790.

Thanks for the update.

For 790i, do you know if this P05 release is the same as before?

Yeah it is. The date is the same. I don't know why it went down for a little while.

P05 caused my system to lock hard for no apparent reason. Would not give me anything in the Event Viewer or an error message of any kind... Spent 2 days removing hardware, testing different voltage settings, different memory timings, different drivers, etc etc. I thought my board was bad until I reverted back to the P04 Bios. Been stable since Sunday morning.

Did you clear CMOS when you flashed? An old setting may not work well with the new BIOS.

I followed what was recommended on this forum.

1.) Ripped the P05 bios to a CD.
2.) Cleared CMOS.
3.) Flashed using the ALT+F2 on boot.
4.) Shutdown the PC after flashing, removed the CMOS Battery and did the Jumper reset waiting 10 minutes.
5.) Put the jumper back to original, and re-inserted the CMOS battery.
6.) Booted the PC once and then reset, clearing CMOS and setting my own settings. No OCing done.
7.) PC froze like crazy.

I do not know what the original settings were because I flashed the bios right out of the box. I had just purchased it. I fought with it all weekend long last week. I had my PC in parts scattered throughout the basement. My last ditch effort was to re-install the P04 bios, which I did last Sunday and its been stable since.

Also I flashed the P04 Bios the same way except I used the Windows Flash Utility through the Nvidia CP.
