I know this is a stupid question but I just need to know how to get the locking end of the SATA cable off two of my drives without pulling the whole controller off.
Thanks.
Yeah I know, the locking end suppose to go on the motherboards. My bad, didn't catch that soon enough....

For functionality it doesn't matter which end the lock is on. There should be a latch you hold down to get the cable off. That is how it has been on all of the locking cables I have dealt with.

I'm looking at it right now and I don't see a latch. It's the sata cables that came with the 780i if you need to know what I'm talking about.

The 780i should come with black angled cables. They shouldn't lock. If they changed the cables I am unaware but all locking cables I have ever seen have either a metal or plastic lever you hold down to release the grip. Are your cables black with a straight end and an angled end?

They are angled, but the manuel says the locking ends are to placed on the motherboards and the unlocking ends should be placed on drive. I wish I would have saw that before I plugged them up wrong. I need to RMA a board but as you know newegg will not take it if the package doesn't have everything in it.
I don't mind to purchase two cables if possible from xfx. Can you do that?
