First of all, the specs of the system in question:
XFX nForce 680i LT SLI (BIOS P07, Driver 9.64)
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2160
2 Gb Mushkin 996567+
GAINWARD BLISS PCX 9600 GT Golden Sample (Driver 175.16)
ASUS Xonar DX (Driver ?)
TerraTec CINERGY 1400 DVB-T (Driver 5.0.18)
D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510 (Driver 5.11)
Western Digital Raptor
Samsung Spinpoint F1
Optiarc AD-7200A
LiteOn SHD-16P1S
SeaSonic S12 v2 380W
XP MCE 2005 SP3
From what i can say, all drivers, firmwares and the OS are up-to-date.
When plugged in, all i can see from my sound card is a "code 12" in the device manager (meaning that there are not enough free ressources). Removing as much hardware as possible does not make any difference. When searching the web and especially the ASUS forum it turned out that this is a known problem with the PCIe-to-PCI chip on the card and some nVIDIA chipsets. For VISTA exists a workaround which works in most cases, but less surprisingly not for my XP.
Some users claim that a downgrade to an older BIOS did the job - but i cannot find older BIOSes on the XFX site. Any idea from where to get a P05 and P06 as ISO for testing purposes? Or maybe some other hints?
Thank you in advance for any help.
