Hi,
I just ( 48hrs ago) received my 8800GT XXX Alfa Dog graphics card so I go upstairs swap out my old 7600gs and put it in connect the monitor to my GC and turn it on. the computer turns on as usual the fan on the GC is working everything sounds normal but there's no video on my monitor. I re-installed the 7600 and downloaded the new NVidia drivers from their website and still nothing seems to work. I have tried running my monitor through the VGA port on my mother board and installing the drivers that way but still nothing happens, I dont know why this isnt working? ohh and a little backround on the computer, using a P5GZ-MX mother board, 2gb DDR2, 3.4Ghz pentium 4 CPU, and a 500W power supply.

Is your monitor DVI or VGA? What sort of cable DVI or VGA?

Any beeps?

Do you have the power going to the Graphic card?

Miker,
My monitor is either VGA or DVI but i am using the cable that came with it which is a VGA cable and using one of the 2 DVI to VGA converters and yes the power is going into the GC via 6pin pci-e cable with more than enough amps. the fan turns on and the computer beeps as usualy wheather i use the 7600gs or the 8800gt.

Make sure you have the PCIe 6-pin power connector plugged in.

Yeah it is plugged in and the monitor is either VGA or DVI but i use the original cable that came with it which is VGA so i use the adapters that came in the box to convert. and yeah the only beeps i hear are the usual beeps when it turns on.

When you say their adapter do you mean 6-pin to 4-pin molex adapter like this:

When using one of these you have to make sure both of the male ends are connected to your power supply.

kinda i believe there is only 2 beeps the regular 2 whether i am using my 7600gs or no GC or my 8800gt nothing unusual everything sounds the same as usual nothing different accept the fan on the 880 its a tad loud but ohh well.

You'll know if the 6pin PCI-E is not giving enough power anyway.
The speaker from the 8800GT is enough to send anyone into panic state.

I'm guessing you have tried using the secondary DVI out on the 8800?

Have you tried a different monitor?

Is the motherboard BIOS up to date?

Can't think of anything else.

If it's any comfort I have had to RMA three YSD4 8800GT's due to three different faults.
Overheating
Noisy capacitor
System kept on freezing and BSOD.

I'm probably going to sell this next one without using it as I'm back on my rock soild X1950pro which has shown slightly worse fps due to the fact i play at relatively low res most of the time.

If the card has not killed your computer and you can not isolate the problem to either the card or one of your other componenets, then I would suggest finding a friend with a suitable computer with a grunty enough power supply who would be willing to let you temporarily install it just to see if it works or not. If the identical problem exists in your friends rig then RMA it. If it works in your friends rig, then the problem lies with your computer.:ahhhhh

I have tried using the other DVI ports but same thing happened, i am pretty sure if not 100% sure the GC is the problem because i am using a 7600GS right now to try and solve the problem with my 8800. i am probably going to call XFX about it I personally think its the drivers but im not sure and also im not sure if any of my friends have good enough power supplies lol.
