Hello, I completed my first build last night using the XFX 780i(J4N256347). Booted fine and completed a clean install of vista 32 bit with flying colors. I left the system running while downloading some drivers(using save to disk, not open) while I went to sleep. This morning I woke up and found my system off to my dismay. Several of the LEDs on the mobo were active but none of the case LEDs were, none of the fans were running, ect... Pressing the reset and power buttons on the case had no affect.

I turned off the power and turned the power back on and one of the blue LEDs at the top of the mobo light up. When I press the power button on the case the amber LED near the top lights up but nothing beyond that. It should be noted that when I turn on the power supply on there is a visible spark... I do not know whether that means the PSU is bad or something connected to it... The list of components are as follows:

I would have to guess PSU, hopefully it didn't take any other parts out when it went.

This one was the PSU(I was pretty sure that was it but as a first time builder the fact that the mobo did have some leds going on did make me scratch my head). I don't have any "test machines" or parts so I just carried it into best buy and borrowed the geek squad's test stuff. Thankfully it looks like no damage was done to the mobo or anything connected to it. Surprisingly no charge but then I did all the diagnosis they just helped hook things up haha. I will have to RMA the PSU.

Probably shoulda just done that without needing to ask here but I literally spent all yesterday building this going to bed at about 3am and when my work alarm woke me up 3 hours later and I look and see the lights out in the case the alarm + lack of sleep prevented straight thinkin.

Personally I would return the PSU and get something else.
