Hi All,

I can't install (a clean) windows XP (sp3) using my new 790i Ultra board
with CosSair TWIN3x2038-1600 (2x1GB)
I use 2 SATA drives in RAID 0 mode (2x500 GB)
and I have 1 750 GB sata drive (all maxtor).

Installing of Vista works perfectly.

but I prefer to run windows xp (sp3)

After I have loaded the latest drivers (nvidia raid) with F6 in the windows setup, it comes up with a BSOD

STOP 0x00000007B BACC3528 F7802524 C0000034 0x0 0x0

I really **** windows xp about this, since many years the drives are still seen by dos tools like partion magic. i

I have seen that STOP 0x00000007B means that the mass store controller (RAID/SATA) fails ?

has somebody a solution?

Are you using 2 drives in a Raid array. If not don't use the Raid drivers. Install only the Smbus and Lan drivers. You don't need the Raid driver for a single Sata drive.

Make sure that you only have RAID enabled in BIOS on the two ports for your RAID 0 drives. For the install you make even try removing the other drive completely. I have seen a few finicky SP3 discs. If you have an SP2 install use it and then upgrade to SP3 after. Make sure you use both of the RAID drivers. My guess is that SP3 doesn't like the raid drivers. If you download the latest chipset drivers and grab the latest versions directly from the package than you may have better luck.

I followed the instuctions and I already have experience with RAID.

As I have told:
My configuration with RAID is working fine in Vista.
I justing stripping mode (RAID 0),and the RAID is in a healthy state.
It also have been setup in the bios enabled
and the first 2 drives are enabled and therefore not visible anymore in the bios (under the IDE ports).

My problem is that the windows setup is giving a BSOD on either mass storage controller
my bios version 6A61MB03 release 811M3P01.

Cheers

P01 is the launch BIOS. We are on P05 now. I would definitely update. They are doing a huge website update right now so the site isn't available. PM me your email address and I will email you the BIOS. Do you have an SP2 disc to try?
