View Full Version : Pics from my trip.
As most of you already know, I went on a trip to visit my grandparents for three weeks and I just came back. While I was there, I visited many interesting places and some very old landmarks. So I'd like to share some pictures I took while I was there. Oh, and I'm not going to say where I went (I gave clues in another thread before I left). The first person that guesses where these pictures were taken wins a cookie! lol
Without further ado, here are the pics.

Ah yup that was actualy my first guess but the pics sorta threw me off. And yea i love chocolate chip.
So hows Damascus. Anything like the game?
Those pics were taken in the umayyad mosque, souq al hamidi, and tartous. It a beautiful place but it's so crowded. It's a whole different experience.
I never played the game so I wouldn't know. But from the screen shots I saw it looked pretty close.

Very nice. Id love to view some of these old cities one day but when your poor your stuck.
Getting there is expensive, but once your there everything is super cheap compared to the US. It's probably cheaper going to Syria for 2 weeks then going to Hawaii for 5 days. You could rent out a fully furnished 1500sq ft home for an entire month there for $300.

Wow thats crazy. Also, Hawaii has a high standard of living and the prices are worse than Cali.

Hmm ok nvm. Id rather go on a cruise to the Bahamas again for that price.

The price I got is pretty cheap actually. Around this time of the year it's more around $2000-$2300 depending on which company you fly with. Visiting during the fall or winter time is much cheaper to fly and the weather is nicer over there during those times of the year.
But if you were to go, I would go with a tour group or something. You're not going to know your way around and not speaking Arabic makes things 100x more difficult.
Going there definitely takes allot of energy, but in the end it's definitely worth it. I think you'd enjoy yourself more going there than the Bahamas. Skip a year of vacationing and save up. You won't regret it. ;-)
Oh, and thanks Victor. :)

Well we dont take a vacation ever year. Maybe like once every 10 years. And when i went to the Bahamas the cruise was a blast. I think if i went id prolly take the Alaskan cruise instead. 2 weeks ;D

Nice. I heard Alaska is awesome. I know some people that went on a cruise to Alaska a couple years back and they had fun. They did say it got boring after a while, though. lol

Nice pictures!
Ahhhhh....I wish I could go to Damscus and Syria in general.
Too bad we (Israel) don't have peace and/or diplomatic relations with Syria...:frown:
So the only way I can visit there is if I had a foreign citizenship or...much better...if we had peace with them.
Let's hope it'll happen in the near future...
That's it...ENOUGH POLITICS. ;-)

I do wish that everybody would learn to live with each other in harmony. Sadly, my hopes for winning the lottery are higher than my hopes for seeing world peace. And I don't even play the lottery. :frown:
I guess the best we could do is to treat others like you would want to be treated. Nobody wants to be treated like crap.

Thanks for sharing AJ. really nice pics, not at all familiar with the area but I was wondering if the shot with the water in the background was a salt mine or???

No, they're actually preparing the ground for a concrete path to be poured there. I guess the white stuff you're seeing is fine rock that's heavily packed. ;-)
