Hi,
About 8 months ago, I bought an 8800Ultra xxx edition from xfx online through eBay.
It worked just fine in the beginning except when I played bioshock on 2560 x 1600 resolution. So I just stuck to 1920 x 1080, thinking that maybe it was just too much for the GPU. But about 2 months ago, I started having crashes in every 3d game.
I have tried over 30 games, and they all crash like 5 minutes into the game. The vista dreamscene crashes within 5 seconds.
I have tried different driver versions. And just to make sure that i clean out the old drivers from the system, I reformat my computer after trying out a different driver.
I have checked my RAM in memtest and for 2 days it showed no errors.
None of my hardware is overclocked, except the GPU, that is factory overclocked.
Finally I changed the GPU, and moved it to my other system, that had a xfx 7800GT. It crashed on that computer also.
Then i took it to my friends computer and put it in there. There also it crashed. I have tried this card on Vista, VistaSP1, XPSP2 and XPSP3. It crashed on all of them.So I am pretty sure that my GPU is stuffed. The temps arent that high, around 85 approx under load, though i havent been able to test it properly since it crashed pretty fast, if I put it under load.
So far I have bought 5 XFX GPU and never had a problem with them.
The eBay seller, I bought it from, isnt responding to my emails.
Now I dont know who to talk to regarding this issue. I want to have it replaced under warranty. I was searching google for a tech support number, but then i ran across this forum, so I thought I might as well post here, since it is supported by xfx.

P.S. Most of the time after a crash the computer shows a BSOD with the nvidia driver at fault, rest of the times, the game just crashes, and windows disables the Display driver.

My Computer Specs are:
Intel QX6800 CPU
Corsair 1024 x 4 8500 RAM
EP35-DS3 Gigabyte Motherboard
850Watt coolmaster PSU
xfx Geforce 8800 Ultra xxx edition

For the moment you may want to use something like RivaTuner to down clock the card and see if that helps. The Ultra XXX was pushed hard and I know Shannon my XFX tech got me a BIOS update for it that took care of the issue. He is on vacation right now and I do not know if my other tech can get the BIOS update.

Using Riva Tuner downclock the card to 660 on the core with processors linked and see if that fixes the issue.

Hi,
I forgot to mention, but i tried that already,
I went a bit below the official nvidia speed. It still didnt help. It didnt even delay the crash.

I didn't get a PM yet. To RMA the card make sure you registered it at http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/Help/Support.aspx and put in a support ticket. RMAs need to be attached to support tickets. We will catch up to the ticket pretty quick and get you an RMA or if you PM me the ticket number or call us we will get an RMA issued for it immediately.

It looks like Asia support got back to you pretty quick. Fill out that form and get it emailed and they should be able to get you taken care off.

HHmmm..
After the initial response, they seem to have forgotten me, or is it normal ?
I havent received any communication from them, for the past 10 days.
I didnt even get a conformation that they received my email.
But then again, like I said, I got no clue how long it takes.

On a side note, anyone know any review where ATI 4870 and nvidia 8800 ultra are compared?
I cant seem to find one anywhere. I intend to buy the ATI for my other PC, since it is much cheaper than the 280GTX. I just wanna check the performance difference between the two.

Hi,
It has been more than 2 weeks, since my last post, and I am yet to receive a a response. I am getting really frustrated, since I cant get rid of the display driver errors. Please tell me how much time it takes before I get my RMA card.

XFX North America has little to do with what happens over there.

Reply back to your ticket asking for an update and send them the form again to make sure they got it. I don't have access to the Asia RMA system to check on anything.
