clueless needing help 8800gtx

I installed twin xfx geforce 8800gtx, well actually my friend di.

Whenever I click enable sli in the nvidia control panel and try to load a game i get message,

world of warcraft unable to load please check you have direct x 9.0c and up to date drivers.

Same problem bioshock

did not have time to test any others. The two cards appear on device manager.

Is this Vista or XP? I think I have seen an error like that in Vista that required some system updates because Vista runs DX9L and not DX9C.
