I saw them up there last night, but there were only 6 of them on there when I looked.

Yeah but I have not seen a Folding@Home test done on any of them. Kind of a bummer because if they Fold good I could get a couple of those for the girls machines.

Hey check it out, no DX10.1. What a bummer. Anybody know how these things perform? I wanna know how they perform against the 260 and 280.

I just ordered the ASUS one (had the best rebate) I will get it up and running the day I get it. I will let eveyone know how it is and I will try to get it to fold. Hope it works.
I will be getting another graphics card when the 4870 comes out but if i can sneak this one into my work PC. I can let it fold 24/7/365 and not have to worry about power or heat. hehe:devildance:

Your gonna let it waste away in your work PC? Man, wish i could blow money that way.

OH on it won't go to waist. I... well i cant say what I do at work when there is down time. hehehe
Here (http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3159) is a thread over at FAH about the folding. Looks like i will be all set once it gets here.
How much power would it require to run these in Crossfire? I was reading some reviews about the 4850 and they're awesome. Crossfire performance was excellent and well worth the $400 to spend. I'd only spend $230 to upgrade after I sell my 8800GT and after the rebates on the Saphire card.
I just hope my 650W PSU cuts it or else I'm not doing it.

How was the Xfire performance compared to the 260 and 280?

Some of the AMD/ATI team has stated they must actually rewrite and begin tuning the ATI GPU code. As it stands it doesn't use almost half of the 800 shaders on the 4850 yet, so it ends up performing like a 3870.
Also one of the F@H leads made a post claiming that NVIDIA tuned for performance first with stability second, and AMD tuned for stability first with performance second. I can't prove the latter, but my experience with the NVIDIA GPU client certainly attests towards the former. NVIDIA needs to play catchup with their driver soup again. :ahhhhh:

4850 is looking really good. It matches the 9800GTX+, and two 4850's in Crossfire are par or better than a GTX 260. For WiC it beats the GTX 280, and for Crysis it looks like a veritable tie... very impressive showing, considering we have not seen the higher clocked 4870 with GDDR5 yet.
As it stands just now:
9800GTX $199
9800GTX+ $229
GTX 260 $450
GTX 280 $650
ATI HD 4850 $199
ATI HD 4870 $ $299
Newegg also is offering volume discounts on all 4850s. Buy 2 or more and you can save up to $25 so far. Supposedly there are some MIRs as well but I can't find them.
I can't wait to see some full 4870 and 4870 Crossfire reviews, because it looks like Xfire will offer >GTX 280 performance at a lower price. AMD/ATI has come back swinging for a change. :)

I am quite curious as to how the HD4000 series will do folding wise.
The current beta won't work, you'll have to wait for the next update which could be who-knows-when.

I plan on grabbing one of these next friday with my paycheck. I was looking at the Asus not because of the rebate but the image of that cool asian chick on the heatsink.
Is that image there on the retail versions or is it just edited to make it look cooler? My 7800GTX has an image like that an I will never go back to a non-asian chick image on a heatsink again.
Also the folding is a plus once they get it out to the public.

I've been reading a few reviews and I am very impressed with these cards...nice to see AMD/ATI coming out with full swings instead of jabs.

Don't know about the 260, but it in Xfire the 4850's were on par with the 280 and sometimes beating it by big margins. I think the only benchmark the 4850's lost to the 280's was in Crysis because Xfire wouldn't work.

I haven't seen that... GTX 280 is still generally better in performance, although you end up paying a third again the price so it's not really better. Any the results I saw on one site pegged 4850's in Crossfire at only 2FPS behind the GTX 280. :)

ATI has really pulled a sneaky punch on Nvidia in a big way. Nvidia is responding by lowering prices. I am reading review after review and it is getting me pretty excited. The crossfire results are nothing short of awesome. I honestly did not think the 4000 series was going to perform like this. It has taken me by surprise as well. 800 shader units....talk about brute force!

I got a 4850 arriving on my doorstep monday. Could have been here today but i ordered it to late in the day to ship out. I can get it to run at 100% i'll just do what i did with the 3850 run more instances of the gpu client. Lets see what percentage of usage 4 gets me.

It could be. I don't exactly stand by Guru 3D's reviews. ;-)
Regardless, all other sites show stellar Crossfire performance. And for the price it costs to do it, Nvidia can forget anybody buying their 280's. Can you imagine four 4850's in Xfire? :jawdrop:
Can't wait to see the 4870!

THats what im sayin but weve seen ATI flop before. So who knows what to expect.
And tbh with my next rig i was thinking about a BA water loop and quad 4870s (Need watercooling for single slot) but hey need monies for that.

I know Eddy at EK waterblocks is going to be making a single slot full face waterblock for the whole series because these cards do run pretty hot due to all the shader units. Well just think a 4870X2 will have 1600 shader units. It's pretty nuts! I can see some plastic melting in stock cooling.

I meant to put 4850s but hey 70s would be even better lol.

Holy crap benches have started to come out on the 4870....linky (http://www.bilgiustam.com/512mb-ati-hd-4870rv770-1gb-geforce-9800-gx2-crysis-ve-3dmark-2006-testleri/)...I think it is Turkish or something.
According to this it beats the 9800GX2....I am definitely going to take this with a grain of salt. There are more then this one out there. There seems to be a flood of leaked benches with different cards against the 4870. I don't know about you guys but it seems that ATI kicked Nvidia in the twinkies...http://forums.techpowerup.com/images/smilies/nutkick.gif

Yea thats deff BS in that link. Thats showing that the 9800GX2 is getting 35fps in Crysis very high 1600x1200. Yet, every review pretty much shows the 9800GX2 raping the GTX280 that can play Crysis that FPS and that quality at 1920x1200.......Somebodies lieing somewhere.

Its here Now I just have to get home. I had it delivered to work. I think that I am going to through it in a work PC and practice at setting FAH up on it. see what works and what doesn't. I can do my real work later... hehe
Edit: Installed it in a work PC and all I have to say is HOT HOT HOT!!! 78-80C at idle. I looked this up and I am not the only one getting these results.
