What seperates a G92 card from a non-G92 card... whats the real difference... if i am spending extra for a g92 card, what am i getting?

G92 is a core.

It is the core used in the 8800GS (64 or 96 shader, I forget), 8800GT (with 112 shaders) the 8800GTS 512 (128 shaders).

A tweaked version of it can also be seen in the 9600GT.

Basically when looking at new cards you are either looking at the original G80 and its variants found in the 8800GTX, and GTX 320/640mb. The G92 listed above, or the super highend cards released on the 260 and 280 GTX.

I wouldn't worry about what core to get as what performance / price I am looking to obtain.

What resolution and budget do you have in mind?

Well the resolution - i am running a 17inch LCD right now, but i am looking at 2nd monitor or going with a widescreen...

see i just want to know i am getting the best for my money... i work hard for my money and want a card thats going to kick butt, and last a while.

Don't forget the 9800GTX is also G92 core.

For that price I would say either an older 8800GTX (check EVGA's site, under "B-stock"), a 9800GTX, or an 8800GT.

The first two will be around the same performance for your resolution, and might be in the $210 range.

The 8800GT will run you $150 and I believe would be the best for you.
