View Full Version : Yahoo and google merge.
Did anybody hear about this other than me? It seems like it wasn't as advertised here. It was big news in the UK.
I spoke to a Yahoo employee yesterday and she was explaining the idea behind this move. I found it quite interesting. From the business side of things, it should bring an estimated $800 million a year extra in revenue. I think it's great news but Microsoft is pretty pissed.

I think its horrible. Google should NOT do this.

Why do you say that? I'm pretty sure if you had the conversation I had with the Yahoo employee I talked to yesterday you would change your mind. Google and Yahoo compliment eachother like bread and butter. Once you know more about how Google and Yahoo conduct their business you would agree.

Yea, and from the way Nvidia and ATI conduct business they should merge too. :frown:
They don't necessarily have to have the same ideology for them to compliment eachother. It's actually quite the opposite. Google is strictly business while Yahoo is more about "how can we help the users."
They're two totally different mindsets. But when combined, it's a deadly combination. I can't see the problem if they can find common grounds and make it happen.

I never really liked yahoo, I never bothered using them. So im sort of neutral on this topic, as long as this helps out google im fine.

Yahoo = teh sux04 with their governmental crap and whatnot. Google wins in my book becasue they actualy battled in court. Yahoo bent over and took it in the rear and is why i dont use anythign that has to do with Yahoo period. Google and Yahoo do good business yes, but its like complimenting a guitar player that sucks. Im sure you know where im going with this.

Yes, I see where you're going with that. But that's more of a personal opinion/grudge than anything else. We're talking business here. Both companies benefit greatly from this merger and there's no denying that.

It would defiantly help both companies. I would think its a good idea, but Google is getting to big. There already the #1 search engine now there adding the #3 Yahoo (not sure if Yahoo's 2 or 3). Google will run circles around Microsoft now.

Yea... I think it would be bad if Google and Yahoo merge because they would have too much of the market.
They kind of already did lol. This story is 2-3 weeks old. ;-)

Sorry PP, but I have to disagree with you. Other than the image search on Google, Google sucks balls. Yahoo is so much better and as a matter a fact, Yahoo is set to my homepage. :)

I personally like Google more than Yahoo. When I'm searching for something I find Google much faster. Yahoo has too much content that gets me sidetracked.

I can never find anything im looking for on Yahoo. When i use Google i find it within the first search most of the time.

Google and Yahoo! said that they had reached an agreement under which Google would deliver ads next to some of Yahoo’s search results and on some of its websites in the US and Canada.

I thought that both companies would join together in one big one but i guess not...

Actualy im curious to know what kind of merge were talking about here. Is it strictly a business merge (Say like Dell and Alienware) or im gonna screw everybody over (Say like EA gobbling up every other game studio)?
No, it's strictly a business deal. Neither Google or Yahoo plan on taking over one another. The deal was basically what bromro quoted. It's an equal business opportunity for both to benefit from.
