Got a problem... could be my XFX 790i motherboard, could be my PSU. More often than not, when I press the power switch on my PC case, the yellow light comes on, the green light only quickly flashes, the system fans very briefly turn and the PC will not turn on. However, the yellow light (Mem Power) stays on? I then have to hold the power switch on my PC case down for a few seconds to turn the yellow light off. The blue light is always on. I have to repeat this process until my PC turns on (blue, yellow and green lights all on and fans running etc.) So... is my PSU not functioning properly or is my new XFX 790i motherboard faulty?

I'm thinking the board may be faulty, as when I get the PC up and running the PSU seems fine (plenty of juice and all the rails are OK).

Weird??

When the board boots up did you manually set your memory timings and voltage? That is the most common reason for a DDR3 board to have any problem.

Yes I have been through the BIOS with a fine tooth comb.

Board looks faulty, as it actually turns on every single time with no PCI-E cards installed? However, try either of my XFX GTX280's and 7/10 times the machine will not even start... WTF?

What kind of power supply are you using? Those cards are extremely power hungry. Are you adapting the 8 pin power or does your power supply have a native 8 pin? We do not recommend adapting power on those cards.

Fixed it... was a faulty Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W PSU.
