Ok XFX and Bjorn3D have decided to put this big push on for the Bjorn3D Folding@Home Team.

Here is the Prize: XFX GTX260

Here is the deal. I will be drawing a name out of a hat at the end of July. The person I draw will get an XFX GTX 260. We are starting the contest early and for any one getting more than 20 Work Units done in June will get their name put in the drawing one extra time. During July for every 20 work units you get done you will get you name entered in the drawing an extra time.

Here are the rules.

1. You must Fold for Bjorn3D team # 41608
2. You must post at least 5 post in our forums using your Folding name.
3. You must have a USA/Canada shipping address.

Good luck to all.

Scott

Awesome. If I win I vow to use it just for folding 24/7. Well pretty much have no choice actually. Cannot run sli and to be able to fold using one ATI and NV card the ATI card has to be primary which leaves the GTX260 to just fold!

How much power does this thing require on the 12v rail/rails? I mean my Pentium M and other components take up less than 100 watts, but if I do win this :icon_tiphat:, would 19amps on on each of two 12v rails cover the power needs?

I would rather win the 9600GSO contest though :), I like low power PCs or at least somewhat low power.

Joz, depending on the prices where you live, folding 24/7 should not cost you more than $20-40 a month extra. I'm pretty sure most of us here leave their systems for at least 10 hours a day, so it's realistically even less (extra, that is). Besides, it's for a good cause (have you not lost anyone to cancer?) and there's a GTX 260 on the line. I've done 18 WU so far, and I started yesterday. :-D

Hey Scott, I thought about this earlier but I think it might be a good idea to implement some sort of scoring system so users can't cheat their way into getting extra entry's (20 WU per extra entry) in July's contest by forcing EUE WUs or only allowing their client to connect to a certain server that has the smaller WUs.

Its just a thought I had.

Scott Sherman
06-30-2008, 12:46 PM
Correct, you have a chance to win with just getting your name in once. Off coarse there are going to be alot of pieces of paper in there so the more you can do the better the odds.

I'm not sure whether this is the right place to post it, but since July's contest involves folding, I guess it somehow belongs this thread...;-)

I just wanted to let you know that I'm 'back-on-track' regarding folding for Bjorn3D.

I stopped folding for the last 2-3 months since I left my workplace for a better one and at the beginning I didn't feel comfortable folding on my pc at work, but now, after three months in my new job, I think that nobody really cares whether I'll run two instances of Folding @ Home on my workplace desktop.

New Contest Format Starting in July.

Well I want to really start whipping up on some of these other Folding teams. So with that in mind any one that can get there Folding@Home 24 hour score to average over 2000 will get there name put in the hat twice.

Also going to do a more work unit requirement going to 15 work units a month and for every extra 15 you do get your name in the hat again. I want Bjorn3D to start kicking some rears and this may help.

Maybe its just me, but there seems to be confusion.....

20 or more in june is one extra chance, but how many july WUs are needed for a name in the hat ? 15 or 20 ?

Then download the Windows: V6 Beta GPU2 (ATI 26xx+, nVidia clients at this link

Hehehe... I can understand how you feel. I've already completed 25WUs this month, but there's no way I'm gonna reach 40WUs till the end of the month (in order to get an extra entry)...:frown:

I don't know how many WUs I've done so far, but I'm hoping it's high enough.
It would REALLY suck if you finished the month with 39 WUs... :jawdrop::lol:

It's amazing what a little prize can do for humanity.
More prizes like this and the Bjorn3d team will be on top 10.
As a suggestion , maybe you'll try in the future to reward those people who fold more than 20 WUs :)

That would get expensive really fast, but still a good idea.

Aren't you folding with your GTX?

I don't know if I can, but I'd give you a few of mine if I could...

Nope...Unfortunately I'm not. :frown:

I planned to try and do it before I left to Paris, but didn't manage to make it on time and now...I'm preparing for my business trip to Detroit, MI (leaving to Detroit in 3 days) so I'm not sure I'll manage to do it before I'll get back from the states (in about two weeks). ;-)

There's been monthly contests here for a while now so there's a good chance there'll be another next month(Aug).

Usually we have one or 2 contests a month so we probably will have another next month.
