I have passed orthos 12 hour test
i am at 3ghz , 1.2875 volts, its not a big oc, but i need it to be 100% stable
i was folding on 3 cores for 12 hours and was foling on my 8800GTS aswell.
now i just woke up, and clicked to open XFIRE, and my system just froze.
CPU not stable?
My GPU was also overclocked

Cannot blame everything on an OC... Sometimes other things do happen in the system. See if you can replicate the same results. If you can consistantly then you need a slight voltage bump. Perhaps set it to 1.3v. Then try it again.

Alright will do. I remember people saying though that the GPU @ HOME client causes system lockups?

Just make sure you don't open up the display viewer and that you are running the latest version(beta 8) along with the newest core(v1.06).
As suggested, increase the vcore a step or two to see if that helps.

it froze when i opened up the viewer, and i think i am runing 1.06, as i deleted the FAC_11 and re-opened the shortcut.
where do i get the beta from?

GPU2 v6.12 beta 8 - http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadWinOther
At this point don't use the display viewer since it doesn't work and it uses up alot of resources.

I've never had it lock my system before. The only problems are that the NVIDIA display drivers crash, sometimes resulting in a BSOD and sometimes recovering to let me reboot and clear the system.
To be honest it sounds like the overclock to me... I've had overclocks never result in an Orthos error, but they would always randomly hard lock. Orthos/Prime95 is never a guarantee although I wish it was! :frown:

mmhmm yeah
i had my comp on this weekend folding on 3 cores and GPU client, but when i came back from a cottage i found out my comp had restarted. going into reliablity and perf monitor it says
Disruptive Shutdown. 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1. The computer was not shut down properly. 06/29/08
Guess it restarted?

Not just your processor is effected by overclocking.
First try running your CPU at slightly higher voltages.
Then see if the computer pass's memtest (10 pass's of it).
Ortho's can stress your CPU and slightly stress your NB and memory. Memtest will stress your NB and memory severely.
Possibly up your FSB voltage too.
The ultimate test, if it freezes again, is it a hard freeze where you mouse won't move, and pressing the "num lock" key or "caps" key won't get the respective light to come on the keyboard? or is it just freezing one application?
If it is the first, then it is definitely an unstable overclock.
Also, the disruptive shutdown sounds like a blue screen, or something similar. 90% of BSOD's are memory instability related.

I have to pause the GPU client when i play games. I play Company of Heroes a lot. It never crashed before I installed the client. If I don't pause, I'll get a hard crash at some point in the game. Usually when I'm winning, of course.

You have to pause it.
Your gpu is being pounded by a data stream for the game and F@H.
