I would like to do some noob-style oc-business with my current setup. I have a few questions for the savy. I am currently running my CPU and Memory 'unlinked'. My FSB is running at 1333mhz and my memory is running at 1000mhz @ 2.21V. The CPU Vcore is set to auto but CPU-z reports voltages at 1.26.
I would like to run my CPU at 3.0ghz. So, I would have to increase my FSB to 1500mhz, yes? And for something like 2.8ghz I would have to increase my FSB to 1400mhz, right? Would I have to do anything to my memory settings, voltage or otherwise? I would like to achieve the 2.8ghz on stock voltages, as it is my understanding that this will do nothing to increase temps.
I have googled alot and found several success stories with OC's @ 2.8ghz w/ q9450 on stock voltages. I like the performance of my memory at its current settings and don't really wanna have to reduce the performance of memory for increasing the FSB. I don't like ratios or linked memory and cpu stuff but if I have to I have to.
Also, will Asus's crash free BIOS allow me to hardboot and get back into the BIOS if I jack-up an OC and it's not stable upon Vista Boot?
