I am thinking of overclocking my 8800GT.

Stock was 600 Core 1800 memory 1500 shader.

Currently running 710 core 2000 memory 1775 shader.

Is this a decent OC or to high. Temps are still only 56'C while folding. No artifacts no tears. Seems stable and temps are good.

Mines at 750, 1900, 1800, all is well...1555

What kind of temps are you getting with those clocks.

You will get alot more speed if you bring down the 750 clock and up the memory, memory is were the speeds at.

Yea, pretty much it is a given that the memory will do 950 - 1,000 mhz, however anything over 1,000 mhz is pretty much impossible. Some folks have tested their memory volt modded at +25% extra volts, and it couldn't go over 1,030.

Mine was a really bad overclocker, and couldn't hit above 680 mhz on the core, so I did the 1.1 volt BIOS mod, and upped the clocks (stock is now 630 core, and 970 memory) but the mod only gave my core 1.0 volts. So I Physically volt modded mine, and it was actually really easy; set it to 1.25 volts, and 780 core is a piece of cake. I think my shaders can do more, but 2,000 mhz is fine for me.

710/1000 isn't bad for a stock card and reasonably safe. As trueg said, higher core clocks are possible with a simple bios vmod. It's pretty easy to use nibitor and nvflash to up the core to 1.1v

My previous XFX 8800GT did 740/1080 with the Tr HR03-GT cooling it, and after the .1v increase I could run almost 800 on the core.

I have not noticed any performance gains with these clocks. I did have a few EUE's while folding, and I can't have that.

My Galaxy 8800GT's clocks are 600 core/1500 shaders/ 1800 memory, and that gives me 4500ppd folding speed. When I overclock it to 700 core/1750 shaders/1800 memory I get 5200ppd when folding. The temps shoot up to nearly 80c though so I keep it at stock.

Only the core speed and shaders affect folding speeds. OCing the memory has no affect on folding speeds.

Slugbug,

I can't get 4000PPD with stock settings. My temps are fine. Drivers are 177.35 modded. I am happy with my current OC. Temps are staying 53-55'C folding with indoor temps near 84'F. My computer is located in my sun room and I only have one measly A/C vent and a ceiling fan.

I've got the Gigabyte GV-NX88T512HP, and have the fan running at 7 volts (much quieter), its between 60 - 70 under load. Using the Gigabyte Gamer Hud to volt mod and overclock. Saw a nice performance boost. It does 2000 memory just fine, but due to there being no ram sinks, I'm to chicken to keep it there. It would probably be just fine though.

I think thats a horrible OC and you should downclock the core to 100mhz under stock!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/pp_mguire/Smileys/ar.gifhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/pp_mguire/Smileys/crazy.gif

Lol nah really though thats a good clock. Idk what these guys are saying about a bios vmod. They never work. And actualy makes your bios unstable unless you know how to make the voltage tables just right. On stock volts though you see my cards mem got to 1050 and its fine there. I run at 80c full load 24/7 with the stock cooler and its actualy fine. With my OC though i was keeping up with your card hehe

Follow this guide on Tom's Hardware
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/overclock-graphics-card-minutes,1731.html

Except instead of changing the default clocks, on the voltages tab there's a drop-down box, just click it and select 1.1v from the list.

It's super easy and it worked great for me, allowed me to increase the core from a previous high of 740 to a benchable 792.

Just shows you how close a GS is to the GT in folding. What gets me is how others with similar GT's are getting 500-1000 more PPD. I am just glad that I finally got the driver EUE issue worked out.

Apparently your OC allowed it to smoke me. Your no longer around me any more.

Were within 100 PPD of each other according to EOC stats.

On my settings it shows our lines merged, but you edging me out in August. I OC'd till I saw artifacts. I then backed it down and it seems stable here are the results using GPU-Z
