Hi! My name is Lisa. I just recently bought a new laptop, model Compaq Presario F768WM. We've got most of the drivers needed to operate the computer with XP (I wiped Vista-who could blame me? hehe), except for the audio driver needed for the sound card.

Does anyone know where I can get an audio driver for this type of laptop? Also, if you don't know where I can get the driver do you know what kind of sound card is in the laptop?

One last thing, under my Device Manager I have 4 objects that still have question marks. They are the following:

1. Audio Driver

2. Base System

3. Base System

4. Unknown

Does anyone know what is needed to fix the Base System or Unkown questions? I thought maybe the "Unknown" was just something from Vista.

Thank you very much for any help you can offer. I really appreciate it!!

Lisa

Contact Compaq tech line. I did the same thing to my son's laptop he bought before Christmas. I chated online with tech support and they e-mailed me the drivers. The only problem I had was that I had to load a SATA driver while installing XP, which required an USB Floppy drive that I did not have. I had to go out a buy a drive to install XP. Other than that, everything went smoothly.

Indeed, call the HP Help Desk and buzz them until they get you your drivers :)
