My PC was acting really sluggish last night, then this morning (AKA 1:30pm) it took 10 minutes to boot then dropped me into the "pick user account" screen with only "Miker" listed. So I opened up Control Panel and saw this, deleted it. Whats up?

ASP.net account is part of the .netframework from Microsoft. You can delete the account but I would keep the files. When you delete the account it will just boot up Windows with out waiting for a user name.

Then why when I deleted it does windows not hang on the boot screen? Before it would half fade into the "Windows XP" picture, hang for about a minute then load slowly, bar moving at 1/4 speed.

Another great Microshaft update?

I've seen that on a couple of computers, I don't know why it turns them into slugs loading I just delete the user account and they load fine so I let it go at that.

I guess you could call it a hack but it's a Microshaft update hack lol. I at least believe it to be a hack when Microshaft comes in and installs stuff on the sly. I usually turn off all the updating crud and do that manually.

That way when I'm benching I know "Bill" hasn't gone in and changed some thing that will skew the scores, and I tend to get less "OMG Bill jacked my rig up again" moments.

.asp is quite natural. I always deleted him in XP. So far in Vista ive never had to install a .net framework thing.

Why would they create a visible user account for a framework anyway? Isn't that kinda... mmh let me find the correct technical term.... dumb?

It makes sense from a security point of view, but none from any other point of view at all!

ASP.NET Machine Account is created when the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 is installed onto a Windows XP machine.

what about in vista, is it hidden? I remember seeing it once on my old vista rig, but I ignored it as I was new with vista at the time.

Just delete the ASP.NET thing, that's what I did. Maybe MS is trying to get into your pr0n?
